Dogs is a very small free clicker game that keeps things about as simple as possible. I am basically here to pet and feed dogs, collect different dogs and bones, and come back when there is something new to collect. It was released in 2024 by BlueScreen and the whole game is built around having a little collection of dogs rather than giving me a big progression system or complicated gameplay. I actually think the simplicity works reasonably well because I know exactly what I am getting into from the start. The collecting is the main reason I would keep it around. There are more than 50 different dogs and bones to find, and the game gives me random drops on timers, with a dog or bone becoming available at different intervals. That gives me a small reason to check back in rather than expecting me to sit there clicking constantly for hours. I like these little collection games when they are kept simple, and having different dogs to discover gives the basic clicking and feeding a bit more purpose. I also like that it does not demand much from my computer. The requirements are extremely low, and the game is small enough that I can leave it running without it feeling like I am committing to some huge installation. There is also a Steam achievement and the game is free to play, so there is not really much of a barrier to trying it. For something this basic, I think keeping the whole thing lightweight is the right decision. The biggest problem is obviously the lack of depth. Once I understand the basic system, there is not much else for me to do apart from petting and feeding the dogs and waiting for the next random collection opportunity. There are no complicated upgrades, interesting challenges or proper gameplay systems for me to dig into. That is fine for a tiny clicker, but it also means I can see almost everything the game has to offer pretty quickly. The collection gives me a reason to return, but it does not completely solve the lack of things to actually do. I also think the timed rewards make the game feel more like something I check occasionally rather than something I actively play. That can be a positive if I want a tiny desktop distraction, but it is not going to hold my attention for a long session. I would have liked a few more ways to interact with the dogs or perhaps some simple collection goals to give the process more structure. Even something small could have made collecting feel more rewarding without turning it into a complicated idle game. Still, I cannot really be too harsh on Dogs because it is completely upfront about what it is. I get a small collection focused clicker with more than 50 dogs and bones, very low requirements, an achievement and no entry price. The presentation is simple, but that fits the tiny scope of the game. I think it works best when I treat it as a little background game that I check every so often rather than expecting a full experience. Overall, Dogs is cute, simple and very limited. I like the idea of collecting different dogs, the extremely low requirements and the fact that I can play it for free, but there is not enough actual gameplay here for me to rate it particularly highly. The timed collection system gives it a small amount of replay value, although I would have liked more interaction and progression around it. For me, it is a decent little free clicker that does what it needs to do without pretending to be something bigger. Rating: 6.6/10
