Distant Star: Revenant Fleet

I cannot recommend this game to anyone. The gameplay is a total drag. Some reviews have compared this game to "FTL: Faster Than Light." And aside from a couple similar themes, it's not like "FTL: Faster Than Light" at all, neither in style nor quality. I've played through a few times, seen pretty much everything, and am not impressed. Maybe they should have spent more time on the gameplay and concepts and less on graphics and cutscenes. I don't know what made me buy this game, and I've bought it a while back, but I think it was the aesthetic; how the game represent itself to public. Artwork, the models, the backgrounds. What you're doing is basically playing the same scenario over and over again, jumping to nodes with procedurally generated maps and random missions if their setting is not pre-determined on the sector map of course. You buy, upgrade ships and fight others, capture, destroy or escort targets; moving on the next map. That's pretty much it. Are the mixed reviews misleading in any way? No. People expect better. However I found myself chilling and playing this game in an afternoon, listening to some music, perhaps eating something. Since you're not required to use a keyboard, you're pretty much right-clicking to target or point and left-clicking on skills if they're not automated. So, I'm recommending this - because the developers have potential and I'm actually having a relaxed couple of hours.
