Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.83/day in the week to Aug 5 → 2/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
TL;DR
This is the most depressing and bleak "cozy" game I have ever played. I wish I could recommend it, because the gameplay is good, but the story, characters, and setting are all so unpleasant it just made me depressed. The game forces you into "bad" decisions that ruin the environment and the townspeople will be angry and rude towards you no matter what. Sorry, but if you can't write conflict without making characters act like assh*les, that's just bad writing. So, only get and play this game if you think characters being mean to each other is funny or if you don't care about the story. I've seen a few reviews calling the characters and dialogue "funny" and I simply don't get it. Almost every single character is mean-spirited, self-centered, unfriendly, two-faced, corrupt, or otherwise unlikeable. Even your aunt Teller, whom you live with, is a downright horrible person. She orchestrates and laughs at other character's misfortune. She constantly dismisses other character's feelings (including the player's character) and doesn't care at all for the environment or animals around her. There's literally a scene where the rainwater has become polluted and the player character suggest to change the tainted water in the bird bath. Your aunt dismisses you entirely and says, "They're only birds." Characters are often casually cruel like this and your character is given no option to do anything about it or confront them. The environment is polluted, dark, and in disrepair. I understand that the idea is that you can make it better during the course of the game, but the way it's presented is so demoralising. Many characters complain and moan, but none of them do anything about it or are actively making it worse. Every character feels selfish. No one is truly kind or caring. It feels as though no one in this town ever helps anyone else unless there's something in it for them, but they're more than happy to berate and criticise everyone else. All of this just creates a hostile and unpleasant environment that makes me sad. I don't need my games to be all sunshine and roses, but I do play them to enjoy myself. Games like Stardew Valley did a great job of writing likeable characters who had conflicts with each other because they had different perspectives, values, and priorities. The characters in this game have conflicts simply because they're assh*les...
Worth every minute ♥
Discounty completely pulled me in. Once I got close to the end, I couldn't stop playing until I had finished the game. I was really happy with the ending I got, it felt like the perfect conclusion to the story for me and made the whole journey even more rewarding. Knowing there are different endings also gives me a reason to come back and see what else could have happened. Definitely a game I'll remember for a long time. ♥ ︵‿︵‿☾ 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 ☽︵‿︵‿ 🤍 One of the best Storys 💙 Lovely 🤍 Good 🤍 Boring 🤍 Just Text or Audio 🤍 There is no Story ︵‿︵‿☾ 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸 ☽︵‿︵‿ 💙 10 / 10 🤍 5 / 10 🤍 9 / 10 🤍 4 / 10 🤍 8 / 10 🤍 3 / 10 🤍 7 / 10 🤍 2 / 10 🤍 6 / 10 🤍 1 / 10 ⠀⠀ ⠀ /)_/) ⠀⠀ (๑^᎑^๑)っ ♥ /| ̄∪ ̄ ̄ |\ ⠀ |_ _ _ _ _|
Gameplay Genre: Management sim with minor restoration aspects Story Genre: Rags to riches Story/Gameplay Ratio: 2:1 **Gameplay** Ideas: 6/10 | A little derivative, but then again, things are popular for reasons. No real *bad* ideas, but no particularly great ones, either. Execution: 6/10 | Aggressively mediocre. Not particularly engaging, and the extremely limited inventory is so annoying when gathering resources I felt the need to mention that issue specifically. Clearly, you are meant to focus on the shop, and not literally anything else going on in the town. But if that's the case, why bother adding it? **Story** Ideas: 6/10 | "Newcomer to a small town contributes to the local supermarket and/or the restoration of the town" is a story that has been done before by a game I'm sure I don't even need to name (and, in fact, several others) in far more interesting ways than this. The only thing novel here is that instead of farming, the player is running the supermarket, which I will admit did intrigue me. Execution: 1/10 | A shame that idea didn't pay off in the slightest. I try to avoid ratings this low, because truth be told, most things are a lot less bad than people say they are. This game, however, forces you into the corporate modus operandi without any way to do- or, in many cases, even *say*- anything that actually supports the town you are supposed to grow fond of. The player is told over and over again in unsubtle ways that what they're doing is wrong, and are strongarmed by their choices out of any form of agreement with that statement. Doing something hated because you feel it's right could also be a good story, but that's not the case here! The player character pushes on with their capitalistic interests and never once expresses any desire other than making money and helping their aunt make money. The player is not given any freedom whatsoever in terms of ethical decision making, at least until where I stopped, which is far, *far* too late in the story to justify. **Characters** Ideas: 8/10 | A fairly well-rounded cast of archetypes that a small town might have. Execution: 3/10 | Every character, save only a few, is unrealistically rude and callous- which might be fine if it was remarked on at all, but the player is expected to assume that's how people are. Precious few behave like actual human beings do. The dev team has clearly never spoken to any small town resident, because this is not how small communities operate- in fact, it's not how *any* community operates. The only reason this score isn't as low as the story score is because of the small bunch of actually well-made characters- and the only ones that are written well are Ted, who is the least interacted with of any of the trade deal partners, and Fisher, who I have a hunch is only so good because of how little he actually speaks. As a method of balancing the choices, this would be... fine, but not exceptional. The problem is that you don't really have a choice in the first place, so it's not serving any purpose. **Visuals & Sounds** Ideas: 6/10 | The art style is fine, and the music fits well enough. There's nothing wrong with it, but it isn't particularly unique. Execution: 5/10 | Competent enough, but doesn't have anything really special to it. Cohesiveness: 6/10 | The disconnect between what characters are telling you and what you are being forced to do by the game progression is so severe- and what's worse is this is the first time I've ever noticed a problem like that in a game, which means it's something most games have no trouble with. Personal Favor: 3/10 | I kind of liked this game for a couple of hours, though I was a bit frustrated with my lack of choice, but after the store expansion the writing got too bad to handle. My final straw in choosing to DNF was not being able to leave the lemonade stand be. **OVERALL RATING:** 3/10
When I first saw this game, I was excited because I thought that it would be like Stardew Valley, or Chef RPG, or Travellers Rest, but the twist was that you run a store. But as I played it I realized... there's very little to do other than running the store. Maybe I'm just weird but I like it when you can do other things, like go to diners and eat there, or hot springs and chill there, a lot of games these days do things like that now and it always makes me happy even if some people may question why such a function would exist. The game just feels boring outside of running the store, and when I do run the strore it just stresses me out. It gets very overwhelming. And I don't like that you can't choose when to open the store. Then again, there's literally nothing else to do but run it so why am I complaining?
I wish there was a "it's ok" rating cause that's what I would give it. The Pros Very few bugs and the ones you do experience are not game breaking The gameplay loop is fun, managing the shop and then running around town to gather supplies and talk to people is a tried and true loop that many find enjoyable. There is a clearly defined story and it appears to have a conclusive end (I have not reached the end) The art style is nice. The Cons The characters are awful: Everyone just sucks. Few people have redeeming traits and in most cases are simply there being either miserable and forcing that energy upon you, or being two-faced and simply having to accept that. In most writing you need flawed characters to create conflict, but in this everyone is awful and you are the conflict. I often find myself rooting for everyone to fail including my character and the only reason I continue in the story is to unlock better things for my shop. Speaking of, many features are unlocked way too late into the game. I recently unlocked an online order mechanic which sounds great, but the biggest issue with it is that I simply have too much going on in my shop to ever work on that. Meaning unless I have a challenge to do that specific thing, it just simply never gets touched. resulting in this mechanic as well as others simply feeling half baked. Quests are simply tedious: The amount of times they are just "give me a lot of money" or "wait x days" is too many to count It's just not fun to do the quests. There is one quest that was really good where you had to solve puzzles to give to certain creatures, and that one was great, but that is the only quest I can say I actively enjoyed. Prices are automatic: You have 0 control over the prices of your items, and they justify it in game by stating you are a franchise which sure that part doesn't matter much, but + points for having a lore reason for a missing mechanic. The point still stands that the entire thing you are doing is just putting items on shelves and cashing the customers out, that is it for the in store portion. There is no real control over the shop and it often feels more like working a job rather than managing a shop in a game. You are the villain: In the story for most of it, you are often portrayed as the bad guy because you are constantly trying to introduce a massive corporate grocery chain into a small town. The game is very much trying to have it's cake and eat it too by having there be a message of community and down with corporatization, but you are actively the one doing it. It really feels like the game is having the MC be like "corporations suck, but not us, we are the good guys I swear." which just leaves an awful taste in my mouth and makes for bad story writing. All this is to say that the game is fun but it is HEAVILY flawed and has a pretty awful story.
It's ok. Fun at first but at the end becomes so boring and clumsy that I just didnt have enought patience to finish it. Story effectively ends with chapter 3 and then for some reason it continues with more characters and less features. Progression is shallow, automation is almost non-existent and inventory management is just bad, but it have its somewhat cozy charm.
Thoroughly enjoying Discounty! Art style is really cute, characters are funny, and the story is fun so far.
