♥♥♥♥ Wilde is a loud, chaotic, and unapologetically arcade-styled wave shooter developed by Bolverk Games, designed first and foremost as a VR spectacle built on fast reflexes, oversized weaponry, and goofy swamp-monster mayhem. Rather than leaning on realism or gritty action, the game embraces its cartoonish premise with full enthusiasm: you take on the role of ♥♥♥♥ Wilde, a backwoods exterminator who deals with mutated wildlife by blasting, zapping, and shredding anything that slithers, flies, or crawls out of the water. Its intention is simple—to recreate the energetic feel of a classic arcade shooting gallery—while harnessing the physical immersion that VR provides. The presentation leans heavily into exaggerated visuals and pulpy humor. The environments are stylized swamps, tropical coastlines, and northern waterways depicted with bold colors and chunky outlines. Everything looks slightly absurd, from the bug-eyed crocodiles to the over-the-top weapons in your hands. Despite the intentionally goofy aesthetic, the visuals are sharp and readable, which is crucial in a wave shooter full of fast-moving enemies. ♥♥♥♥ Wilde himself frequently comments during missions, though the humor is intentionally campy and sometimes repetitive. Because the game never takes itself too seriously, its tone remains consistent: silly, cartoon-violent, and aggressively tongue-in-cheek. Gameplay is centered around stationary combat arenas where waves of mutated critters attack from all angles. The VR format demands constant awareness—enemies leap from the water, dive through the air, swarm in clusters, or pelt you with messy projectiles. You’re locked in place, but you must physically dodge, duck, lean, and twist to avoid damage, giving the experience a physical workout quality. Each level consists of a series of escalating waves culminating in a boss encounter, and the challenge ramps up quickly. The game has no issue overwhelming you early on, making it one of the more demanding shooters in its niche despite its humorous exterior. A major pillar of the game’s fun comes from its weapon variety. You can equip everything from shotguns and harpoon guns to electric bows, buzzsaw launchers, toxic cannons, and bizarre hybrid firearms. Many weapons include alternate firing modes, adding tactical consideration to a genre that usually prioritizes pure reflex. Experimenting with combinations becomes part of the game’s appeal, as different enemy waves favor different tools: harpoons pin fast-moving targets, explosive shots clear clusters, and electricity arcs between swarming pests. While some weapons eventually outshine others, the overall arsenal is creative enough to keep players experimenting for quite a while. However, the game is not without its weak spots. The humor, while playful, can wear thin as voice lines repeat during longer sessions. The exaggerated exterminator theme—blasting animals in large quantities—may feel awkward or off-putting to some players, even though the visuals are cartoonish rather than realistic. The structure of the game is inherently repetitive: shoot waves, survive, upgrade gear, repeat. For fans of score-chasing or arcade-style design, this is part of the appeal, but players seeking narrative depth or varied mission objectives may find the loop too limited. While the VR movement demands make combat exciting, the overall campaign is modest in length, and longevity depends largely on how much you enjoy perfecting stages or competing for high scores. Technically, ♥♥♥♥ Wilde performs well, with responsive aiming, smooth tracking, and clear feedback when hitting enemies. The level design ensures good visibility of approaching threats, and the pacing encourages quick adaptation rather than memorization. Occasional roughness—stiff animations or abrupt difficulty spikes—doesn’t undermine the core experience, but it does highlight the game’s indie origins. Outside of VR, the game is far less compelling, as much of the energy comes from physically dodging and aiming, which standard controllers cannot replicate with the same intensity. In the end, ♥♥♥♥ Wilde stands as a solid and spirited entry in the VR wave-shooter genre. It’s not a deep or complex game, nor does it aim to be. Instead, it thrives on frantic action, silly charm, and the satisfaction of mowing down ridiculous fictional creatures with an arsenal of outlandish weapons. For players who enjoy pure arcade-style chaos and want a physically engaging VR challenge, it delivers a fun, adrenaline-fueled ride. For anyone seeking a richer narrative or long-term progression, its appeal may be brief—but during its best moments, ♥♥♥♥ Wilde succeeds in providing exactly the kind of over-the-top, sweaty, smile-inducing VR action it set out to create. I got this game years ago on PlayStation 4 VR. It was quick instant gratification fun to share with the family and take turns beating each other’s scores. After returning on my Meta Quest 3 I noticed that easy level is so difficult that I can’t advance any further than the first spot in the swamp. Just wave after wave coming at me. Part 2 is easier and better.
It's an on rails shooter with old graphics but lot of fun.

its reaally empty do not by
My first wave shooter and probably one of my favorites. Surprised the reviews are low. This indicates low sales, I know there's a sequel but this one is tops.
Richard Wilde is probably the most underrated wave shooter out there for VR. Plenty of great-feeling guns, fun & colorful environments & enemies with style & charm, and most importantly, just great gameplay.
