Deserter: Prologue is a free stealth-RPG game. Use stealth, cunning, and thieving skills to escape from a military camp in the heart of a dystopian war.
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.
About
The prologue to Deserter is a free, standalone chapter that introduces you to the bleak world of the main story.
You are John Holden, a soldier broken by endless bloodshed and lies — witness to something that can’t be unseen. With no way back, there’s only one option left: escape.
Time is short. Each night is a chance to prepare, but every misstep brings you closer to death on the front lines. Evade the night patrols, steal supplies, craft tools, and strike secret deals with fellow soldiers. Can you make it out unnoticed? Or will you vanish in someone else’s war?
A unique blend of stealth and RPG genres
Stealth, deception, thievery, and careful planning instead of direct combat
Atmospheric, detail-rich locations set on the front lines and inside a military camp
Multiple escape routes with distinct challenges and consequences
A grim dystopia filled with satire and dark humor

Deserter to intrygująca gra RPG w klimacie wojennym. Posiada bardzo ładnie zaprojektowane przerywniki filmowe i ciekawą fabułę. Mechanika gry jest bardzo podobna do mechaniki This War Of Mine: zbieranie, handel, skradanie się. Grając, czułem przyjemne uczucie nostalgii. Uwielbiam prosty styl i ładną oprawę graficzną gry.

Love that it plays well on the steam deck!
From Backloggd: https://backloggd.com/u/TGA_backloggd/review/4855744/ This is one of those demos that I've been downloading more and more these days as I explore the world of demos to give myself a good idea of upcoming games. This is made by the same people who created "Gone Rogue" which I had forgotten about, buried under my wishlist that's attempting to reach 10K at the moment! So anyway, I played this off-stream and as the title suggests, it's a prologue to the full game, Deserter, where you flee the army after witnessing what we'd call a war crime (unless you're a certain nation friends with many others) and after abandoning his mission after the shock and horror of what he's seen, our protagonist is given a death-sentence in the form of being sharp-shooter fodder. So, with the help of a few sympathetic men in the camp, you have to escape before the next battle and try to make it on your own. There were issues here and there, but I did report them to the devs who were happy to help and look at my save file to understand why certain achievements weren't pinging, but there were still the issues with navigating the skills menu, however, we only get a limited use of it, being the demo, but you have many ways to distract, hide, knockout and disable alarms/locks along with grease being a hell of a saver for using some of the louder tools. I like how there's multiple ways of escaping, including getting put into the infirmary to make getting to your escape that much easier! Crafting tools was fun too, like the lock-picks and prybars and I would love to see the other kinds of fun things we can craft in the main game and I can't wait!
