Desert Bus is back and better than ever! The 1998 Penn and Teller cult hit mini-game is coming to virtual reality, so you can fully immerse yourself in the thrilling eight-hour trip from Arizona to Nevada. It’s almost like you’re driving the “wheel” thing!
Revenue comes from in-game items and microtransactions, which our price-based model doesn't estimate. The player count below is how many people own it, not what they spent.

Пробить талончик, телепортнуться на место водилы, вырубить сразу же радио, зажать одну кнопку и иногда подруливать. Геймплей конечно 12 из 10, хотяб ходить дали. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E1APlxexPKE
Got to commit an act of aggression against the bus after beating the original SEGA CD version. Might come back to it later for more, but for now, 5/5 stars. Would recommend :3c

Desert Bus VR is one of the strangest games I have played because the entire idea is built around doing something incredibly boring on purpose. I am driving a bus through the desert from Tucson to Las Vegas, and the trip takes around eight hours in real time. There are no exciting races, no enemies and no big story waiting for me at the end. I just have to keep the bus on the road and make it to the other side. That sounds terrible on paper, but I actually think there is something weirdly entertaining about how seriously the game commits to the joke. The driving itself is extremely basic. The bus can reach 45 miles per hour, the road is almost completely straight and the bus has a slight tendency to pull to one side, meaning I have to keep making small corrections. If I drive off the road, I get towed back to the start and have to watch the whole process happen in real time. I like that because the game never tries to hide what it is. It takes the original joke and turns the lack of excitement into the main challenge. Even opening the bus door and using the horn are treated like important features. The VR side makes the experience a little more interesting for me. Being able to sit inside the bus and look around makes it feel more like I am actually stuck on this ridiculous journey. I can also play without a VR headset, which is useful because the game does not completely lock itself behind VR. There is a radio with different programs to listen to as well, including material featuring Penn Jillette, which gives me something to have on in the background while I drive. It is still a very empty experience, but that emptiness is basically the entire point. There is also multiplayer support for up to four people, which gives the game a completely different use. I can have other people sitting on the bus while I am driving, and they can wave or throw paper at the driver. I think that is a much better way to experience the game than treating it like a serious driving simulator. The multiplayer does not suddenly turn Desert Bus VR into a deep game, but it gives the otherwise empty journey some personality and makes the ridiculousness easier to appreciate. The biggest problem is also the obvious one. There is almost nothing to do. The full trip is intentionally eight hours long, and once I understand how to keep the bus on the road, I have basically learned the entire game. There are no upgrades, no different routes and no meaningful progression to keep me going. Even the return trip is simply the same journey in the opposite direction. I can understand the joke, but I cannot ignore how little actual gameplay there is when I judge it as a normal game. I do think the presentation and the charity connection help give it more purpose. Desert Bus VR was made partly to support Desert Bus for Hope, which raises money for Child's Play, and the game carries the same ridiculous endurance challenge that made the original Desert Bus famous. I like that the game knows exactly what it is supposed to be rather than trying to add unnecessary mechanics just to make it seem more substantial. It is basically an interactive joke, a VR novelty and a test of patience all at the same time. Overall, Desert Bus VR is difficult for me to rate like a normal game because the lack of content is deliberately the content. I like the absurd concept, the VR bus interior, the radio, the multiplayer option and the fact that it completely commits to making a boring eight hour bus journey into an achievement. At the same time, there is very little actual gameplay and I cannot see myself spending huge amounts of time driving the same road unless I specifically want the joke or the challenge. It is free, unusual and memorable, but it is also extremely limited. For me, it works much better as a funny experience to try than as a game I would regularly play. Rating: 7.8/10
Of course I wouldn't recommend this. What are you, crazy? Go drive somewhere in real life instead.
After two runs of this game, I think I wanna own a bus. 10/10 I regret everything
