I so recommend this game for people who enjoy fantasy, strategy, and no handholding. For me the game iz cozy and stress-relieving.
good game
Upd. The game is abandoned. It has serious bugs, such as memory leak when automated workers are enabled. The developer instead of fixing the game, hides and quietly bans those who criticize the game. Nice game, graphics with mods are ok, a.i. is also not bad, knows how to use magic, hire armies and arrange unexpected attacks on cities. Deity Empires reminded me of another brilliant indie 4x game, Eador Genesis, but here, in my opinion, the main drawbacks of Eador have been removed - here we have many factions and you can resurrect units, which makes leveling them more interesting and more useful. The game can be customized, there are many options for this, both ingame and in the settings files, for example, you can change the attack distance from lairs and the lair respawn distance. The automated engineers aren't fully customizable yet, but the most convenient way I've found is to create 2 engineering plans, one with only level 10 roads, another with level 10 buildings and roads, which I turn on when I've built all the buildings I want.

Fun
This game is the exact 4x fantasy game that I have been looking for all this time. If you can get past the graphics, and the fact that instead of a tutorial they just provide you with a guide it becomes an amazing game.
Can't play single player offline due to DRM. Scummy dev, abandoned.
Always liked games with a lot of depth. Every time I play I find I new mechanic I was ignorant to before. The enjoyment I get out of this game doesn't come from the challenge or difficultly in winning, but without fail, finding out I was ignorant to half the game. Its complexity comes not just from an increasing level of granularity, but more and more mechanics. You can win while interacting with less than half of the game mechanics; the fun part is that it doesn't matter what half. Overall, it plays a bit like CIV, but with a whole bunch more stuff going on to make it high fantasy. I would liken it to CoE, but it's more sedentary; you should not be losing territory. It shares in that weird feeling of a 4x game feeling "Open World". Very good.
This is an odd one. The closest thing I can think of is Master of Magic. From choosing your spellbooks and traits to managing your empire this game is FAST. Unlike Age of Wonders the combat moves at a blistering pace for a TBS. Empire Management however is extremely detailed and deep. Understanding how natural resources feeds production and how to influence this is just as important as understanding what avoidance means for each terrain type. This is an excellent game, and is VERY VERY good once you take the time to learn it. (I reccommend Dastactic's videos.) Also, if you are colorblind like me, you can change the UI_Settings.ini file and just about every color in the game. I did this for roads because I could never see them. The biggest downside of the game is the stupid online requirement. After a day or so offline it wont let you play anymore. Rediculous. Anyway, great MoM clone 10/10 Much smoother to play than the new MoM. Good stuff.
Despite the graphics (which I highly recommend the Hi-res mod for) the actual design is phenomenal. As models in your unit die your amount of attacks and damage scale down appropriately. There are evolutions for many monsters. The xp curve requires a little tweaking though. Overall it has more satisfying combat than most games of this type.
Die Steuerung ist nicht intuitiv, Bewegungen und Ausführungen zu träge. Es gibt kein Tutorial. Kann ja sein, dass viele es feiern aber ich kann dieser langsamen und umständlichen Art nichts abgewinnen.
