Default Dan

I was pretty interested in the idea of this game being essentially Mario but in reverse, and while I think it should try and stand out from those games a bit more, I do think it has pretty high replay value and solid enough ideas to bypass some more poor graphics and short gameplay.

Funny at first, then just becomes a trolling game to trick you, even if you know what's going on. Decent game.

Great platformer but a frustrating one. The concept of changing the norms of platformers is a fun and enjoyable concept, but the game can get frustrating and even dull at times. From a casual standpoint, this is a challenge however not as challenging as other platform games known for their difficulty. Overall a good pickup if you're looking for something different. For full disclosure, I was a Kickstarter backer for the game.

A very short and simple platformer that certainly takes a bit of time to get used to if you've been playing Super Mario Bros for long enough. Once you're used to the subversion of the tropes, the game still pits its difficulty against you through its devious level design. Those who wish to complete it 100% have their work cut out for them, but if you're a fan of the Mario franchise and enjoy a little bit of Super Meat Boy-style difficulty on the side, then this game is for you. There's a little bit of jank with the game sometimes, mainly being that Dan can get stuck in a wall momentarily if you're hugging it while falling, and while I could use it to my advantage occasionally, it's largely a hindrance, so keep that in mind. Also I'm not too sure on how the fire flower works in this game as sometimes I blow up even though I'm sure I'm moving all the time, it could do with Dan not having a significant enough change in his x and y position in the level. Essentially I don't think dash-dancing will count as moving if you're using the fire flower. Despite this occasional jank I have no problem recommending this game.

This game takes your basic Mario platforming knowledge and gives you a big ol' middle finger. EVERYTHING YOU KNOW IS WRONG. I seriously questioned my existence for a for the first few hours. You want some coins? NOPE! They make you explode! Jump on top of an enemy to kill it? NOPE! You're dead! Read the signs to help you out. NO NO NO!!! They are trolls! Pits? Oh yeah you fall and come out the top of the screen! Spikes? Oh, they are bouncy! Oh you made it to the end? Let's do the gyan gyam style dance. Like WTF is going on?! This game really messes with your mind and muscle memory. It takes a lot of practice to get it down. Also... THIS GAME IS REALLY REALLY HARD! Yup..... RAGE GAME BABY!! This game is really rage inducing. But, this game is also very fun and addicting. And It's so satisfying when you beat a level. I finished the main game. But, I never completed the dark world. It's complete BS! Or maybe, I'm just bad. This game is completely obnoxious. I would for sure recommend anyone curious, or dumb enough to try this game.
