About
"Welcome commander to your first non simulated mission. You are in control of our mining startup station, which has just reached our licensed territory in this sector. Mission begins now."
Deep Space Outpost is a sci-fi base builder with resource gathering and base management. Create your space station, mine asteroids for resources and make your mission a success.
Begin with a small startup station and a handful of worker droids. Build your own space station tile by tile to achieve your mission. Play an open sandbox mode, or choose one of eight different scenarios and try for a high score. A station builder mode allows you to create blueprints to use in game and share via Steam workshop
Build and expand a space station using your starting worker droids, add new rooms, facilities and production modules.
Mine and collect asteroids for raw ore and refine it into metal, fuel, oxygen and water. Gather drifting scrap and salvage derelict ships to reclaim metal.
Build a production chain, transforming raw resources into refined goods and items to sell or use to support your station.
Manage station power, balance generation, batteries and consumption while surviving solar storms and electrical failures.
Hire human workers from passing traders and keep them alive with life support, crew quarters, food, and entertainment.
Assign and prioritise jobs so workers build, repair, transport goods, or respond to critical threats.
Trade with visiting ships - buy and sell resources, repair and refuel vessels, and charge visitors for access to your facilities.
Construct defence turrets to protect your station from asteroids, scrap impacts, and pirate attacks. Brace for boarding raids from pirate crews.
Repair damage and respond to emergencies including hull breaches, fires and item breakdowns.
Research new schematics to unlock advanced buildings, upgrades and production technologies.
A new procedurally generated space sector each time you play. Replay or share map seeds.
You begin with a handful of worker droids and a small outpost in deep space. As your station develops, you’ll assemble a complete production chain that transforms raw resources into refined goods and advanced items to sell, trade, or use to support your expanding infrastructure. Your workforce grows from simple droids to hired human crews brought in by passing traders. Humans require life support, breathable air, co2 capture, food and comfortable quarters.
Entertainment, tourism, and station amenities - Life support will mean travellers will arrive, and you can open your airlocks and offer them access to entertainment facilities, bars, canteens, casino and other amenities. Visitors will explore your station, spend money on food, drink, and leisure and reward you with steady revenue if you keep them happy.
Research and unlock new technologies - Purchase new schematics to expand your station with advanced modules, improved production methods, and stronger defensive systems. Enhance station security with upgraded hull plating, access controls, shields, and more powerful turrets. Improve your droids with better armament, increased battery capacity, and higher carry limits. Unlock new processing and infrastructure systems, such as the distillery, the laboratory and sewage treatment plant to further develop your station’s capabilities.

Brick by brick, we'll work this one through, as Irreverend Opinions takes a look at Deep Space Outpost! (Early Access 0.7.0.6 edition) [strike]---[/strike]
The Blurb
Deep Space Outpost is a space station building & survival game offering a lightweight hard sci-fi colony manager.
The Summary
Beyond the promise it definitely holds, Deep Space Outpost is a simple, but involved, colony management sim in it's own right. Still very much an Early Access title, however.
The Good
It is pretty simple and easy to get started with either sandbox or missions, avoiding resource clutter and keeping systems flowing well. The graphics are lightweight and retro, with distinct sprites and some small details that help to draw the eye or add just a small touch of extra immersion. Gameplay is simple, but looks relatively balanced at each stage. Survival is as much about forward planning as it is about plugging in new systems. The tutorial is straightforward and helps new players well. Beyond basic survival, there's also station visits by various factions in game, who will give you mission contracts from time to time. Sounds and music in the game match the beat of the game. The roadmap looks inviting, and the developer is involved with their community. That said, the developer is extremely easy to talk to, and has a good eye on their project. Some elements do not mesh with one another, such as the defenses shooting down meteors that are being targeted for mining.
The Ugly
Several bugs will CTD, but that's what you expect in early access.
Suggestions
Early Access title, so go in expecting it to be polished later. Their Steam discussion page: http://steamcommunity.com/app/1712110/discussions is a good port for talking about the game, reporting bugs, etc. [strike]---[/strike] If you liked this review or want to see more recommended games, be sure to follow our curator group: Follow Original Curator Group

I don't articulate why it's able to get 7 hours from me, and it'll probably get 7 more. It's poorly made and has very few features. The gameplay loop is loose and simple. In all the bad ways. And it always feels like you're struggling even when you're rich as hell and well into endgame. Also: it feels like nothing works. This is probably poor communication.
I’ve been playing a lot of colony builders and management games over the years games like Prison Architect, RimWorld, Going Medieval, and plenty of other survival/base-building sims and Deep Space Outpost has really caught my attention. What impresses me the most is that this game is being built by one person. That’s a huge undertaking, especially for a genre where the little details matter so much. Seeing a single developer take on something with this kind of ambition reminds me of what happened with RimWorld and Tynan Sylvester the one person creating a game with a huge amount of depth, personality, and room to grow. Deep Space Outpost already has that feeling where you start small, struggle with resources, figure things out, and slowly turn a little outpost into something that feels like it’s yours. Those are the moments that make colony games special. I’m really looking forward to seeing where this game goes. The foundation is there, and I’m excited to watch the developer keep expanding, improving, and adding more systems over time. Supporting solo developers who are chasing big ideas is what keeps unique games like this alive. Keep building. I’ll be watching this one closely.
I have honestly got no idea what made me buy this EA game, but I am glad I did. It is very basic at the moment, which is to be expected, and I am looking forward to what gets added down the line. I would recommend this one, especially as it looks like (looking at the road map) that this is going to be a very good game.
Good groundwork for a game. Really nothing to critique in regards to what is present. However, there's also not much. The game is more proof of idea stage than early access or beta stage. It's severely lacking enough content for having more than an hour or two of gameplay before completely and entirely running out of anything to do.
Great game, dev is very responsive and is always updating. This is the type of game after a full on days work, come home and relax too. Rimworld on a space station you build and run
Good game, interesting idea, the author constantly releases patches.
Reluctantly, I'd say yes. But this is a game in the very early stages of development, with very few features. It reminds me of Stardeus when that first came out. Whether the developer will continue "developing" is another story. I hope so. But at the moment, there are lots of limitations. A very small area in which to mine for resources, and at the moment it doesn't seen as though we can move around - of course, an outpost doesn't move - which could make this a problem mid-to-long-game. The research tree is tiny at the moment. I wouldn't say this was a proof-of-concept, but nor would I say that it's ready for a full release. Bugs seem minimal, which is a plus. I haven't refunded (though my play time of 4 hours, a couple of hours of it spent in pause when I was called away by the missus to do one of those jobs that she assured me would only take a minute, but ended up taking two hours, would preclude that anyway). I'm hoping it will continue improving, and I'm willing to support the dev. Keep watching this, and get in early, if you like to watch games develop gradually.
Very simplified Space Haven like. On the one side its a good thing for me, since to complicated game mechanics takes for me the fun out of it, on the other side this one got to simple. With learning the mechanics and try few things out it took me around 10H to reach end of content: self-sufficient base with no need for trade or anything. All in one nice, but not worth the money at time.
