About
~ In the year 29XX interplanetary wars erupted as a nanite plague spread to every star colony decimating the human populations. On the planet Celestious survivors scavenge subterranean zones for supplies and lost tech while battling the bandits, beasts, and monster that stalk the blackouts. ~
Deadzoned is a traditional turn-based action Roguelike in a sci-fi setting. Venture ever-deeper into the Deadzones blasting through a wide assortment of enemies from critters and creatures, to gangs of outlaws and cultists, and terrifying monsters of the blackouts.
To survive you'll need shrewd wits to make best use of the busted up weapons, gear, and limited ammo you stumble upon as you decide whether fully exploring the enemy strewn zones is worth the gamble. Thankfully murdering meanies gives XP to level up your Stats and Talent choices to customise your build.
Every playthrough a procedurally-generated nightmare: Each zone fight through a unique layout facing random events as you level-up differently with special talents, find rusting weapons and strange gear, interact with ancient machines to boost your build, and fight or avoid the enemies that infest them.
Fast arcade action: There's no agonising over item weight limits, grab every weapon you find and blast your way through the meanies to get the biggest score you can muster.. but keep an eye on your ammo!
Multiple game modes: Fancy a quick 20 minute trip? Or maybe a more lengthy session? You choose how deep the journey goes with each offering their own length, difficulty, and pools of gear, enemies, and end bosses.
Many character classes: From Bounty Hunters, Psychics, and Technomaniacs, to the humble Deprived Wretch, each class levels up differently with each class having their own Talents and stat preferences.
Optional Difficulty: Zones can have multiple random events you can face or avoid for extra loot and bigger scores. From dealing with a camp of Cannibals to entering the domain of a skelly summoning Boneraiser. You may also find optional entrances into the more dangerous but rewarding zones such as Forbidden or Plagued Deadzones.
Steam Leaderboards: Battle your foes, and your friends, to reach first place on the online Steam leaderboards. Every game mode and class has their own leaderboard to fight over.
Clashful Cards: Take a cosy break from the blasting with a strategic collectable card game you can play against the AI or a local friend.
Input Accessibility: Although Mouse + Keyboard is recommended, you can choose to play on a gamepad, or just a keyboard.
Hat & Skin Colour unlocks: Now this is fashion zone!
~ Can YOU survive the zones? Or will you become just another Deadzoned? ~

I own a couple of caiys' games. One thing is very clear; the theme and setting is always absolutely on point. From the visuals to the soundtrack, each game is an absolute atmospheric masterpiece. It's honestly kind of criminal that this game only costs me £3!
Fun little game, It'd be interesting to see a full world in a similar fashion.
Deprived Wretch Vacation (positive)

I like Caiys's games. Boneraiser is one of the few games I ever intentionally 100%ed the achievements on, been trying Void but some of those are just too f'n frustrating. And I like traditional Roguelikes more than action, been playing stuff like Nethack and *angband since most of you reading this were nothing but a tingle in your daddy's trousers. Caves of Qud is my favorite game of all time (no joke, I'm pushing 800 hours in it.). So, Caiys+traditional Roguelike sounds like right up my alley. So, the review. Its very simple for someone who spends hours tromping through posthuman salt wastes and jungles with strange mutated animals chittering at you in the trees, but thats what makes it great. You can pick it up, and play it for 20 minutes or hours. If you had played a deep traditional roguelike (especially something like Cogmind, which the terminal aspect in Deadzoned vaguely reminds me of) its pretty much pick up and play with no tutorial needed. If you had not ever played a traditional roguelike, a game like this is a good introduction without getting bogged down in the complexity of something like AdoM, ToME, Cata:DDA, Caves of Qud or any of those other extremely deep true roguelikes with a difficulty wall to get over to even get comfortable playing. But the simplicity doesn't mean its not fun. Because it totally is. Its one of those "I'm just going to do a run. Ok maybe one more...and another too." type games where you sit down to play for 15 mins and before you know it there goes 2 hours. Especially for a fan of Caiys, the graphics, humor and concepts are everything you'd expect from one of his games. And frankly, I absolutely love his color palette and art style. Its stylized and unique to the point of you can look at one of his games and see its his right away. I'm glad he finally did a roguelike, and I'd recommend it to any fan of his or someone into traditional roguelikes, beginner or not.
Love the art. Fun game.
Nice first try!
Plays excellent on deck Dev is very responsive =)
Pretty interesting and stylish TRADITIONAL roguelike (But in trailer it looks like real time. Actually, it's just a QoL feature that lets you move quicker when nothing dangerous is around). I like the style, and music is not bad techno. I played on 3440x1440 monitor, and it looked kinda fine, considering that there is no such option in settings (I picked highest possible instead, 3840 × 2160.) On lower resolution game starts to look blurry on my monitor, but at 1920x1080 and higher I can't see a difference, so that's a +. There is A LOT of loot, kinda makes you feel like a loot goblin. Lastly, what I wanted to say is that this game feels EXTREMELY luck based. It's not really bad, I personally like a lot of randomness, but I also want to have some more ways to actually build my character, and not just rely on random drops from chests. Sidenote: After skill selection screen, I kinda reminded myself about Infra Arcana. Funny enough. Also, I finished first gamemode The Outzone Bust Up as a Cartograph Pioneer, scoring 11293 on leaderboard, making me a second place, wowie. I'm right below a person with blank name and 14k score.
Another stellar game from caiys. One of my favorite indie devs. If you like traditional turn-based roguelikes, you'll love Deadzoned. Considering that the game costs less than a cup of coffee, you really can't go wrong.
Amazing! I am so addicted!
