Played on Vive Pro 2 with Index controllers: It seems well enough for a short bit of fun... but it really doesnt... controls (changing magazine) were impossible. grabbing the slider was a chore and i constantly switched hands accidentally, grabbing and letting go of something was extremely counter-intuitive.. you should think that letting go of the grip would let go in game.. but it doesnt... Also the game would crash a lot too.

Deadly Cryptids is the kind of VR shooter that I found much more physical than I expected. I am dropped into a mysterious ruin after a plane crash and have to survive waves of strange creatures while actually moving my body to take cover. I liked that the game makes me duck, lean, hide and even get down low instead of letting me stand still and casually shoot everything. The cover system is easily my favorite part of the gameplay. I have to use the environment properly because enemies can put me under heavy fire, and simply staying exposed is a quick way to get overwhelmed. I enjoyed the feeling of physically reacting to attacks because it makes every encounter much more intense. The slow motion feature is also a fun addition when I want to turn the tables and clear out a dangerous group. The weapon handling gives the combat some extra personality too. I can use pistols, rifles, shotguns, grenades and heavier weapons, with manual reloading available for a more involved experience. I liked having to actually perform the reload actions instead of treating them like a single button press. It makes the shooting feel more like an arcade simulation while still keeping everything accessible enough to jump into. The mysterious ruin and horror setting also work well together. Exploring an ancient looking location while fighting creatures gives the campaign a nice sense of progression, and the strange atmosphere helps prevent it from feeling like a generic shooting gallery. The shooting range is another useful touch because it gives me somewhere to get comfortable with the weapons before dealing with the more frantic encounters. My biggest issue is that the game can feel somewhat dated. The core VR mechanics are still enjoyable, but the environments and overall presentation do not have the same level of polish as newer VR shooters. Some encounters can also start feeling repetitive once I have become familiar with the basic enemy patterns. I wanted more enemy variety and more surprises throughout the campaign. Still, I think Deadly Cryptids gets the important part right, which is making me feel physically involved in the action. Ducking behind cover, manually reloading and using slow motion all work together to make the combat more memorable. It is especially fun when I am under pressure and have to react quickly instead of simply relying on a mouse and keyboard. Overall, Deadly Cryptids is a solid VR action shooter with a strong focus on physical movement and weapon interaction. I liked the cover mechanics, wide selection of weapons and intense firefights, even though the presentation shows its age and the enemy variety could be stronger. It is not the most sophisticated VR shooter I have played, but the physical combat still makes it worth checking out. Rating: 6.7/10
I really did not enjoy my time spent with this game at all. It's just another wave shooter of course, but it does something incredibly wrong that I feel will discourage some casual VR gamers. And that is it overwhelms the player with an excessive number of worms that move way too aggressively and reach the player way too fast even on the supposed easiest difficulty. This is a common mistake that I see many VR developers make is that easy mode is not truly easy. The worms in this game are almost instantly all over you to the point that you are mostly shooting down around you until the level ends in failure, which shouldn't happen so easily and so fast on the easiest difficulty. Another thing I did not enjoy was an overuse of a heartbeat sound, which pounds and pounds in your ears until you go through the procedure of finding a needle and injecting yourself. This heartbeat sound also played endlessly the first time I started the game and got a fatal crash error. The bland desert setting also gets old fast and never changes. The female character also does not have any voice acting so you have to read the text. And she has painted on eyes that never move, which is kinda creepy combined with the fact that she's mute. Another annoying aspect of this game is that you have to wave your hand over your watch in order to access the menu, which worked only sometimes with the Valve Index for me. The teleportation system is also bad because you can only teleport to certain nodes and only at certain times. So you just stand there in one spot unable to move while endless hordes of worms surround and overwhelm you. Not fun in my opinion.
VR at its finest. It's incredible that this game was created by just one individual. This is the best VR wave shooter, featuring an engaging storyline, realistic gun reloading and aiming. It's a must-have title, especially with those unsettling worms lurking around. I'm thoroughly enjoying this game! The weapons are meticulously designed and provide a genuine feel. Mastering the "realistic reload" demands excellent hand-eye coordination, and perfecting your unique reload sequence is immensely gratifying, particularly with dual-wielding. About the game: - The level of detail is astonishing; it can trick your mind. From the firearms to the enemies and the environment, I once mistook a rock I was hiding behind for reality and ended up smacking my face on the ground! - Shooting and aiming are impressively precise. If you aim accurately, enemies go down much quicker! - There are some truly eerie foes that can send chills down your spine if they sneak up on you. - Without revealing too much, there's a moment near the end of the game that gave me goosebumps and made my heart race like never before in gaming. - The shooting range is a fantastic addition, allowing you to test out the various weapons the developer has included. - The Bitcoin multiplier is a neat feature, especially for those with cryptocurrency, as it adds a financial incentive when the game becomes more challenging. - The option for auto/manual reloading introduces variety, realism, and an added layer of difficulty. - There are difficulty settings suitable for everyone, ranging from easy to very challenging. - The save game feature allows you to take a break and let your heart rate return to normal after an intense session. Suggestions: - If feasible, consider adding a multiplayer mode for competitive play with friends. - Continue to provide updates to enhance the game further! I highly recommend purchasing this game; it offers a unique experience unlike any other. Every VR enthusiast should add this title to their collection, especially given its reasonable price! The fact that it was developed by a single person is truly remarkable!
Shooty shoot
