This isn't my kind of game but i think some other people would like to gamble their lives playing... Pun intended. That is because after a level you cant save your progress. Which is a great concept but just not for me.
this game is the best fps game i ever played the game are very smooth and the music was so good deadlucre is one of the best fps game i ever played
Deadlucre is a compact roguelike first-person shooter that builds its identity around a clever combination of frantic gunplay, gambling, and calculated risk. Developed by KoneWorks and published by KoneWorks Kajaani, it sends players into a hostile city controlled by an unusual casino cult. Instead of treating gambling as little more than part of the setting, the game integrates it directly into progression. Health, firepower, and survival become interconnected resources, creating a shooter where deciding how much danger you are willing to accept can be almost as important as accuracy and movement. The most distinctive feature is the ability to gamble health at slot machines in exchange for upgrades to the player's revolver. It is an effective risk-and-reward system because health would ordinarily be something players protect above everything else. Deadlucre deliberately encourages the opposite behavior. Giving up precious survivability can produce a substantially stronger weapon, but an unlucky or overly ambitious decision can leave a promising run hanging by a thread. The mechanic creates genuine tension because upgrading is never completely free, forcing players to judge whether additional damage is worth entering the next battle in a weakened condition. Rather than filling the player's inventory with dozens of conventional firearms, the game concentrates much of its progression on transforming the revolver. Seven different modifications are available across three upgrade tiers, allowing the weapon to evolve into something far removed from an ordinary handgun. Depending on the upgrades acquired, it can take on characteristics resembling automatic weapons or shotguns. Special effects further expand the possibilities, including electrical attacks that can penetrate enemies, poisonous effects capable of spreading damage through groups, and explosive ammunition for dealing with clustered opposition. This makes experimentation an important part of repeated runs. Combat follows an aggressive arcade-style philosophy. Standing still for too long is dangerous because enemies actively pressure and pursue the player. Successful encounters therefore require continuous movement, quick aiming, effective dodging, and awareness of the surrounding environment. The five main enemy types have different behaviors, encouraging players to recognize threats instead of treating every opponent identically. When several enemy types appear together, prioritizing targets and maintaining a safe route through the arena become important. The result is combat that rewards confidence and mobility rather than slow, defensive play. Its roguelike structure provides the motivation to continue after a failed attempt. Death ends the current run, but permanent progression means there are opportunities to improve across repeated attempts. This helps soften the frustration associated with losing a strong build while preserving the tension that makes individual runs meaningful. The game also uses looping levels with difficulty that continues to increase. Surviving one complete cycle is consequently only part of the challenge. Continuing onward means confronting increasingly dangerous enemies and discovering how long a particular combination of upgrades can remain effective. Handcrafted levels give the environments a more intentional quality than purely randomized arenas. Their layouts can be learned over repeated attempts, allowing experienced players to understand useful routes, dangerous positions, and opportunities to maneuver around enemies. The tradeoff is that repetition may eventually become noticeable. Players seeking enormous quantities of locations, weapons, and enemy varieties could find the overall scope relatively focused. Deadlucre instead relies on escalating difficulty and changing weapon configurations to keep familiar spaces challenging. The dark cartoon-inspired visual style complements the unusual casino-cult premise. Its exaggerated appearance fits the arcade nature of the combat and gives the game more character than a realistic presentation probably would have provided. The increasingly extreme revolver modifications also feel appropriate within this deliberately stylized world. Combined with an energetic soundtrack, the presentation supports the rapid pace of the action and reinforces the feeling that players should always be moving toward the next fight, upgrade, or dangerous gamble. There are some limitations to consider. Five primary enemy types represent a relatively small roster, while the emphasis on a single heavily customizable revolver may not satisfy players who prefer shooters built around constantly collecting entirely different guns. Likewise, handcrafted environments inevitably become familiar after enough loops. Much of the long-term appeal consequently depends on enjoying the central combat system, experimenting with modification combinations, pursuing permanent improvements, and testing personal limits against continuously increasing difficulty. Steam Deck compatibility is less straightforward. Deadlucre does not currently have an official Steam Deck Verified or Playable classification, so it should be treated as having unverified compatibility rather than guaranteed handheld support. Its first-person shooter design and relatively straightforward controls may make handheld play feasible, but the absence of an official compatibility rating means players should expect that controller behavior, interface readability, performance, or other aspects may require adjustment. It would be premature to describe it as fully Steam Deck compatible without an official designation. Overall, Deadlucre succeeds by giving a familiar roguelike FPS formula a strong mechanical hook. Gambling away health for the possibility of creating a devastating revolver makes progression exciting precisely because becoming stronger can simultaneously make survival more precarious. The smaller content pool prevents it from feeling as expansive as larger roguelikes, but its focused design works well for short, intense runs where movement, improvisation, upgrade choices, and risk management constantly interact. For players who enjoy arcade shooters, escalating challenges, unusual weapon builds, and the thrill of risking a successful run for one more upgrade, it offers an entertaining and distinctive experience. Fun fast paced game! Runs very smooth, cartoony graphics look nice. Maps are fun to run around. Gambling is always nice. Quite short at this stage but understandably. Eagerly waiting for more.

Great and fun game. Great performance, good mechanics and gameplay
I enjoy this game, and am excited for more content. My only gripe is that movement is kinda busted. I was having a lot of fun using the auto Bhop kinda system until i found out you really cant be hit if you just move in a straight line instead of jumping throughout the world like rabbit on PCP. Game would be awesome if there was some kinda workaround to this
