Days Gone

Really good story, strong characters and a world that kept me invested for more than 70 hours. I especially enjoyed the quieter character driven moments and the feeling of travelling through Oregon on the bike. My biggest issue is the forced horde encounters. They are impressive as a concept, but I found them badly balanced, extremely resource hungry and much more stressful than enjoyable. They ended up hurting my overall experience more than any other part of the game. Overall, I’m glad I played it and I think it’s a very good game, despite that frustration.

does everything a typical open world game does, but worse. Repetitive missions, constant busywork, weak pacing, and far too much pointless riding between objectives. I finished it hoping it would eventually click, but it never did

★★★★☆ (4/5) Days Gone was a game I enjoyed far more than I expected. The gunplay feels satisfying, taking down Freakers never gets old, and every encounter can quickly turn into chaos. One of my favorite parts of the game was upgrading Deacon's motorcycle. Slowly turning it from a worn-out bike into a reliable machine made exploration feel rewarding and gave me a reason to keep progressing. Exploring the open world is also a lot of fun. The world feels dangerous, and you never know when you'll run into a horde or stumble across something interesting. The only thing I felt was missing was the level of exploration rewards you find in games like Red Dead Redemption 2. I would have loved to discover more hidden treasures, unique weapons, secret locations, or rare collectibles that really encouraged exploring every corner of the map. Overall, Days Gone is a great open-world zombie game with satisfying combat, excellent motorcycle progression, and an immersive world. It isn't perfect, but it's definitely worth playing if you enjoy survival and open-world adventures.

A masterpiece that gets even better the second time around. This is genuinely one of the best games I have ever played, so much so that I just finished my second playthrough.The story is beautifully crafted, and the characters complete the experience perfectly. Even if you don't learn every single detail about every person's past, everyone has a clear purpose and a reason for being there. The world feels alive, and the character writing is incredibly grounded.I have to admit, during my very first playthrough, the sight of my first horde made me want to just close the game and quit. But I didn't, and I am so glad I pushed through. Playing it for a second time, knowing exactly what to expect, allowed me to appreciate the game even more. I learned how to play better, mastered the mechanics, and truly soaked in the story and the absolutely breathtaking graphics.Days Gone is one of those rare games that feels complete in every single aspect. The atmospheric "virtual" world is created with incredible care—even with so much ugliness and brutality around you, there is always something beautiful to find.While I can safely say I won’t miss the terrifying stress of clearing the hordes, I truly wish Sony would give us a sequel. This world deserves a second chapter. 10/10 - An absolute must-play.
