Database Detective: Minor Crimes Division

Used an inner join on level 3 this game is hardcore! Definitely worth buying for fun or as a way to learn sql.

Lovely game. Very well designed, I never felt lost as onboarding went on. And it's not a conventional interface or core mechanic. It lacks quality of life fixes for the macOS, specially for text editing since it's the core interface of the game. Quick jumping to line end or line start doesnt work. Note taking is also clunky.

The whole presentation is just so funny. I was instantly hooked. Sometimes you still get stuck though and in those moments the hint system may not be super helpful. Also a UX thing. I wish we get to create folders. Even if just one level of folder. Later problems required downloading/creating a lot of files it cluttered the desktop space.

A wonderful and humorous puzzle game. I expected this to be mostly SQL with a little bit of detective work, but good golly I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of actual detective work needed to solve some of these puzzles. I had the advantage of knowing an amount of SQL which helped, but the ingame manual was well written. The only thing missing is that in the final level it seemed necessary, or at least easiest to solve using the [spoiler] [code] WHERE xxx IN (SELECT xxx FROM ...) [/code] [/spoiler] syntax which is not documented.

While I started playing the game based on the premise of extracting information from databases, I was impressed by the puzzles and the logical steps outside the tables. The game presents itself well, with the setting, tone, and cases all feeding into a wonderful package.
