Charts
Each storefront's own chart, in its own country — the closest public signal to sales where none is published. A country missing from a list is one we don't collect there, not one where the game doesn't chart.
No United States chart position — it charts only in the markets below.
Same day: best AU #89, worst UK #97 · 2 markets collected
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 5/day in the week to Sep 11 → 24.86/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About

There’s been a backlog of unsolved cases piling up in the Minor Crimes Division of the Los Zorangeles Police Department and we’ll need a Database Detective to help solve them.
We’ll need you to analyze clues and manipulate data using SQL, a database querying language, to figure out who perpetrated crimes from as minor as littering to as serious as not checking out of a hotel after the check-out time.

Don’t worry! This role is intended to be accessible for those without any SQL experience, so each Database Detective is given an introductory textbook when they start! This short textbook is less than 20 pages and explains everything that’s needed to solve each case.
If you still have trouble writing queries, our comprehensive error messaging system will tell you exactly where your query went wrong, making it easy to correct your mistakes.
Still not enough? Each Database Detective is assigned an assistant who’s ready to answer any questions you might have, whether they be about the case itself or the SQL queries you’ll need to write!

Understanding how to manipulate data using SQL is not the only part of being a Database Detective! Your job will also require you to piece together evidence and clues, just like a real detective! Further on in your Database Detective career, you’ll have to sleuth through the internet and piece cases together yourself.
Fully voice acted mission briefings at the beginning of each case!
Fully hand drawn art for you to enjoy!
More than 40 websites to explore!
10 cases for you to solve, each case getting longer and more complex!
A total of around 8-10 hours of valuable work experience to add to your resume!

Funny and clever game. The type of hand-made game that makes you feel grateful for finding it.
A Fun and Clever Introduction to SQL
Database Detective: Minor Crimes Division is an entertaining puzzle game that does a great job of teaching you key aspects of SQL. I am a huge fan of educational gamification, and this balances learning and gameplay really well.
First Impressions
I initially tried the demo and finished the first two levels, which was enough to convince me instantly. I have put about an hour into the game so far and fully intend to play much more. If you are on the fence, I highly recommend giving the demo a go!
Highlights

Tone & Style: Goofy graphics and silly, light-hearted storylines.
Puzzles & Difficulty: Offers a genuine challenge, particularly when deciphering what is required and learning SQL queries completely from scratch.
Learning Curve: Makes database querying approachable and engaging without feeling like a dry textbook.

Verdict: Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys logic puzzles or wants a fun, practical way to learn SQL.

This is the first time I'm leaving a steam review but I enjoyed it so much I need to recommend it even though I haven't finished yet haha I think started the demo at around 7:30pm and then went to bed at 5am because the game is so fun. I really appreciate how there's not just one way to come up with the correct answer and how the complexity slowly ramps up with each case. The overarching plot and world building is really interesting!! With amount of care put into all the art and the little funny details I'm continuously noticing something new and giggling.
I used to hate SQL and databases, I love them now. 10/10 I'm coming for your job Larry Ellison
I'm dropping the game sadly. The game is clearly done with lots of love, but after chapter 5 it becomes more about assuming clues than writing SQL queries. The in-game hint system is useless, not having tabs or history on the browser is so annoying, some puzzles are plays on words that if you are not English native you won't get (plus the clue system doesn't anticipate this?) some other puzzles are literally you assuming that something is unique, or happened in a time frame, I was just guessing, not deducing before reading a walkthrough and seeing the mental hoops that the guide had to do to justify reasoning. Sadly, I think a more direct mystery game with more spotlight on actually using SQL would have been better
W game, honestly. Super educational and helpful—highly recommend if you're trying to learn SQL from scratch
It would be nice if the developer would remove the artificial constraints, and allow all features of the database that backs this game. Apparently this is SQLite. So please don't stop us from using Cross joins, recursion, CTEs, Full outer joins, natural joins, window functions like LAG and LEAD. And please use the date data type, instead of using integer for dates. Apart from that, it is a fun game. But being artificially constrained is not fun.
《The Roottrees are Dead》式的閱讀線索、網路文章→有了全盤思路再去進行真正犯人推理的推理遊戲,不過就差在本作的閱讀物料在讀完以後還需要用SQL query查表(是只有查表,架構等不在本作範圍內)的方式來縮窄、鎖定犯人。
