About
Dark Ride is a virtual reality theme park designed for people who love cozy, atmospheric experiences. Step through the gates and wander at your own pace into attractions inspired by the classic dark rides found in theme parks—where every corner tells a story through handcrafted environments, lighting, sound, and delightful surprises.
Unlike traditional games, Dark Ride isn't about winning or rushing. It's about exploring magical spaces, uncovering charming details, and experiencing the quiet joy of being completely immersed in another world. Built natively for VR, each attraction invites you to slow down, look around, and become part of the story.
Whether you're searching for hidden secrets, enjoying whimsical scenery, or simply soaking in the atmosphere, Dark Ride offers a relaxing escape filled with wonder, nostalgia, and curiosity.
Dark Ride is the culmination of a world Paleozoic has been building in public over several years.
The journey began with Dark Ride: The Feline Fix, a cozy scavenger hunt set inside a magical potion shop, followed by Dark Ride: Sweet Dreams, a gentle theme park attraction released in Early Access to explore what a true VR dark ride could become.

Each was a self-contained attraction within the same growing park, experimenting with new ways to tell stories in virtual reality. Dark Ride brings them together into a living theme park filled with handcrafted experiences—expanding on everything players loved while opening the gates to entirely new adventures.
Whether you have ten minutes to unwind or an evening to lose yourself in enchanting worlds, Dark Ride is a place you'll want to return to, again and again.

It's a cute little walking simulation / exploration game. Whole thing took me about 5 minutes. There's nice little secrets to discover. However, this experience is not for everyone. There's really no gameplay at all. You just wander around the cute park and maybe find an interaction (example: push a button and see the boat / ferry move on the miniature lake). You may be able to open a door and see what's inside the cozy room. It's very cute. Perfect for VR families with little kids. I think they should change the name from Dark Ride to something else. There's nothing dark here. It's all cute & cozy. Maybe Cute & Cozy Amusement Park VR! You have full locomotion. Snap turn only. I think they need to add smooth turning. I think everything should be something you can interact with, even if it's just picking it up. I think that would add a lot to the experience, along with more hidden interactions (maybe being able to pick up the hose and water the flowers or having a butterfly fly unto your open hand). Rate ?/10. It's EA and it's free, I can't complain when the art-style is very cute.

Returning to the Dark Ride world is always a pleasure. Feline Fix was a bite sized experience where you had to find ingredients to dispel a curse, while Sweet Ride started as a short dark ride but then was expanded to have an explorable part set in a street full of cute shops (which also included the Feline Fix game). This game, according to the description, will bring everything together and let us explore the full park and I'm really looking forward to it! I already wrote it while reviewing the other games, but I have to say again how much I LOVE the artstyle and the atmosphere of these games. They are short experiences, but there is so much attention to every little detail and everything is so damn cute that I can't help but smile like an idiot all the time. It's all extremely cozy, but at the same time wandering through this deserted, but not really abandoned, theme park has a sort of surreal vibe I really enjoy, just like I like finding little hidden details that begin to hint at the larger narrative/mystery behind the park.
Dark Ride is a very different kind of game because it is not really interested in testing me. Instead, it gives me a cozy virtual reality theme park and lets me wander around at my own pace. I found that approach surprisingly relaxing because there is no pressure to win, no timer chasing me and no punishment for simply stopping to look at something. The exploration is the main attraction. I can walk around the park, investigate its different areas and interact with the objects I find. The park is built around handcrafted dark ride style attractions, so the emphasis is on slowly taking in the scenery and noticing small details. I enjoyed that because the experience feels closer to visiting a strange little theme park than playing through a conventional level. The interactive elements are another nice touch. I can poke, grab and experiment with things around me, and some of these interactions reveal hidden surprises. There are also clues that can lead me toward new areas, which gives exploration a little more purpose without turning it into a stressful puzzle game. I liked having just enough mystery to make me curious about what was around the next corner. The visual presentation is probably my favorite part. The colorful fantasy environments, lighting and sound are clearly designed to create a warm and playful atmosphere. The VR format also makes the small details more noticeable because I can physically look around instead of just moving a camera with a mouse. I think that makes the park feel much more immersive. My biggest issue is that there is not much conventional gameplay here. Since the game is designed around relaxation and exploration, I cannot expect challenging puzzles, combat or progression systems. The Early Access version is also still being expanded, so some attractions and stories are not fully developed yet. For me, that means the current experience feels more like a promising virtual space than a complete destination. I also think this type of game depends heavily on whether I enjoy simply wandering around. I personally like that slower approach, especially in VR, but I can imagine some players finding the lack of objectives too passive. The good thing is that the game seems completely comfortable with being that kind of experience rather than pretending to be something more action focused. Overall, Dark Ride is a charming and relaxing VR exploration game that I found genuinely pleasant to spend time with. I liked the handcrafted attractions, playful interactions and colorful atmosphere, and the lack of pressure makes it easy to settle into. It still needs more content and refinement, but the foundation is lovely and I am interested in seeing the park grow. Rating: 6.7/10
I'm sorry, this is a very cute F2P VR game that allows you to walk around a very cute park... But I honestly don't think this game should be called Dark Ride when there was no ride to begin with at all. I was actually expecting something since the last Dark Ride game you guys made was a nice and relaxing one and actually had a ride! This just being called "Dark Ride" with no ride seems... misleading... I'm sorry... very cute game though...
Charming.
