I just beat Crystal Story: Dawn of Dusk the other week, and it was FANTASTIC :D!!! This game is so charming! The art is absolutely gorgeous, the music is all a certified bop, and the gameplay is a lot of fun! The story is very intriguing and the characters are so good; some of them gave me a good chuckle X'D!! I really liked the overworld abilities as well, they feel really satisfying to use! There's SO much heart put into this game you can really tell, please give it a try :3!!

The gameplay isn't that great and it's full of bugs. You can very easily break the game in the mansion level. It should really be listed under early access. The visuals and music are nice and it has a lot of potential but it's not worth the current price. Come back in a few years when its done.
Crystal Story is a short but sweet game with eye-catching art and a nostalgic air to it that reminds you of all your favorite 8-bit rpg adventure games from the past like Zelda and Earthbound. The gameplay has elements of puzzle-solving, point-and-click adventure, and turn-based rpg mechanics for plenty of variety while you explore numerous, whimsical environments and get immersed in the charming plot and characters of the Crystal Story universe. For a first-time game developer, Fred Brown does a great job creating a colorful and engaging world full of places and characters that you want to see more of and a game that you want to play more of. So it seems that my main complaint would be that there isn't more of it to play! Yet, anyway, since Fred promises to continually add free updates to the game and add larger paid episodes later on for additional content. Overall, the game is very much worth the $15 price tag (comparable to a movie ticket) considering the time, labor, and skill that went into (and will continue going into) producing it. Definitely pick it up if you're looking for a fun game with great art that's easy to pick up and play at your own pace and that you will be able to watch grow and develop over time.
There are a couple criticisms I have of this game, but honestly I really enjoyed the experience. The setting is really promising and I can't wait to see where this series will go. The art and music are great, and I love the little minigames in the turn based combat, which really feels like a natural evolution of Undertale's combat. I also like the blending of Zelda elements with influences from games like Mother. I was genuinely excited for this after seeing it in one of the Mother Directs, and I'm very happy I got to play this. I do have a few gripes with it: * The controls are pretty janky. You can't throw a bomb while moving, if you cross a screen boundary, you have to stop pressing the movement button and repress afterwards, and generally I found the control scheme fairly unintuitive * Some of the enemies could do with a little tweaking. A lot of them spawn so quickly that you don't really have time to react to them before taking damage. * It's not always entirely clear what you're supposed to be doing or where you should be going, and some puzzles could do with slightly better telegraphing (e.g. the statues that require a spin slash - I read that icon as meaning wind, so I was looking for some kind of wind-related item or ability)
a fun nostalgia driven game heavily inspired by SNES RPGs a little buggy and for the price it's pretty short
A cute, if brief, little adventure, that definitely feels like a prologue to a bigger story. Standalone, I can't say it's very satisfying considering how small it is in scope, but it looks lovely, has heaps of charming characters and writing, and there's the making of a nice, larger fantastical world that I would love to explore more. And despite being a prologue, it thankfully doesn't end on a frustrating cliffhanger. Pick it up on a sale if that helps, it's made with love and care, and I hope we get more in the future. 7/10
Loved the boss fights but I wanted MORE story/gameplay. Hopefully more story and/or the adventure continues somehow.
I'm definitely liking it a lot, you can see its inspiration in games like Zelda and Earthbound. It shows that they did it with a lot of love. highly recommended. I can't wait to see what they do with it in the future. I wish you the best of luck with your game, and above all I wish you good luck dev
I have been following this game for a long time, recalling the time when I used to play GAME BOY. The most important thing is that we need Chinese!!! Chinese!!! plz!!!!
