Crown Gambit

Bought this game a couple days after it released and it's genuinely one of the best games I have ever played. I'm not the biggest fan of turn-based games, but the way Crown Gambit plays is so fun and well done. Every battle was so insanely enjoyable and having different effects and cards successfully play off of one another makes me feel so smart. You can really tell that the combat in this game is actually compelling and not something that was just simply thrown together. The art in this game is also phenomenal. A lot of games tend to gear towards a more clean and pristine art-style, but the grittiness and rough edges of Crown Gambit's art-style really evokes a grim feeling of urgency that bleeds into the story perfectly. The music is also very well-fitted with the overall vibe of the game. I typically play games with my own playlists playing in the background, but I love Crown Gambit's soundtrack and sound design so much, that I just had to let it play constantly. I'm also really happy that the soundtrack is available on different streaming platforms because it's really good. The story of Crown Gambit, both through concept and execution, is beautifully done. The amount of choices you can make that impact the story is very vast. I have only finished a single play-through at roughly 16 hours, which is crazy to me because I didn't expect this game to have this much content for its price-point. The only gripe I have with Crown Gambit is how difficult it can be to remember all the characters, mother-houses, different paladins, so on and so forth. This is obviously on me though and by playing more, I'll be able to pick up more of the lore and world-building. I just found myself making choices with little to no regard as to what I'm siding with or supporting. Regardless, I still enjoyed how everything played out. All in all, I highly recommend Crown Gambit, especially at its price-point. It's fun, full of content, and absolutely stunning in its art, story and music. I'm extremely excited to play more games made by this team.
