'Crabs' he said with a touch of both amusement and bewilderment. 'That's the thing you're afraid of? Crabs' 'Yes' I confirmed 'The Crustaceans, not the disease... although that would also be highly unpleasant to experience ' The young Mozy had a bad childhood experience on a family day at the beach when she was attacked by a crab and had nightmares of Crabs following her home and attacking her as she slept and she has carried that strange fear of Crabs - Kabourophobia- all her life. To find a game featuring something that actually scares me is very rare so I had to try Crabmeat. There are things I disliked about the game but the positives won me over. You find yourself the sole crew member of a crabbing vessel and are tasked with catching enough crab to settle a debt to the state. The game has a unique way of movement. You must look at a point and click it to walk there. This is initially quite awkward but I did quickly get used to it and completely understood why the devs made it this way, it helps to create pressure. Starting at the docks, you check the map to look for ideal crabbing zones...marked by green rings on the map. Steer your boat to the ring, drop a trap, give it time to fill then hook it , winch it, drop it in the hopper and sort the crabs making sure to discard any that aren't big enough to meet the states standards. The first time the crate opened up and dropped the crabs on the hopper, I was just trapped, staring in mild horror as they all scuttled about.... truly gave me the creeps. There are old traps left behind by other grabbers which you can go looking for , marked by question marks on the map. Sometimes these old traps contain a pleasant surprise. I loved exploring the map, the scenery , sound effects etc were all perfect. Prepare to be attacked by large crabs that will attack you and your boat . Overall, despite the initial awkwardness of the controls and figuring out the crabbing process...once this was out of the way, I had a lot of fun with this game. Did not cure my fear of crabs. In fact, I think it made it worse. I will say this though, I was very disappointed in the ending. The ending felt a bit like a slap in the face from a large Crab's pincer.

I've only gotten 30min on this game but this is just unplayable because of the movement. They must have had a deranged mental asylum patient behind the development of the movement in this game because there's no other explanation to how they thought this was a good idea. Returning it until otherwise updated. Genuinely seems like an amazing indie game.
What a great short game. Crabbing feels intuitive and rewarding, and the movement feels fun and combat intense. The point and click movement adds a lot to the tension especially in combat. I wish there were a few more horror elements spread out more evenly through the game, I completed my first run and didn't really encounter anything besides one weird thing in a cage and the final boss. There is also one section of the game (
the ship graveyard
) that is not well optimized at all, dropping my frames from the buttery smooth 165fps the rest of the game to a really choppy and stuttery 60fps. Overall I think it's well worth the money if the tactile boat maneuvering and crabbing looks fun to you. I will be back in for a couple more runs to pursue the other achievements and try to complete as much as I can.
The game is nice and the graphics are interesting, but the more I play, the more pointless it feels. It’s unclear what we’re supposed to be doing. I couldn't figure out if it’s a story game or one where you just mess around freely.
overall its a decent game no cheap jumpscares, good playstyle but need a relax mode with infinte time and infinite crabs
Pretty cool gameplay heavy point&click game about collecting crabs. Too much gameplay for me personally, but i can see why people would like it.
Optimize your ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game. You've got the fans on my PC running louder than modern triple A titles on Ultra.
It is time for: Crab
