I didn't have many expectations and thought this would be another roguelike game for my collection that I play a few times and then forget about. I was so wrong. First of all, the art style is simple but works so well, every building is easily distinguishable. The soundtrack is great and the sound effects scratch my brain in a good way. For the gameplay, there are several guilds, each with different types of buildings, then there are blueprints, heirlooms, potions, councils... I was overwhelmed at first but quickly got the hang of it (well, on the easier difficulties for now :D). Along with a randomly generated initial map, every run is different and I love discovering new strategies. I didn't want to mention Balatro in my review, but really, this is THE game, that makes me feel the same way as when I started playing Balatro. Will definitely try to go for all the achievements. 10/10
very very fun little roguelike. it's got a surprising amount of complexity that i wasn't expecting at all going in. charming artstyle and music, and it's weirdly easy to get a hang of despite how much is going on. runs are also relatively short, so it's not like other roguelikes that demand a lot of time, which is nice. only complaint i really have is that the game is a bit too easy. i've already finished the hardest difficulty, and the only runs i lost were a few with terrible RNG at the start. other than that, i think the game is very entertaining and i would recommend it

Lots of combinations of guilds and different buildings to try. It's a lot of fun. I plan on trying all the different combinations since it is really fun to try the different combinations. Some guilds don't seem to have very interesting synergies so far, but that might just be due to not having everything unlocked yet. Would recommend!
Writing this right after winning my final max difficulty guild combo. Combolands is a very good mini-roguelike experience that I've really enjoyed playing! The 7 guilds have a good number of differences that make most of them interesting combinations to play around with. Understanding how to put together combos with paint and adjacency bonus is super rewarding with those big explosion moments the genre is known for. The game is a bit easy, far easier than something like Balatro. (Though I do not see this as a negative!) Ghost Paint is the main culprit of this ease, and it makes guilds that can take advantage of it (Commercial & Maritime being the real stand outs) incredibly strong even at the highest difficulty. I do wish endless scaled a little harder faster as I often end up just needing 1 week then skipping through store for at least 5 endless tiers. I would highly recommend Combolands for anyone interested in strategy rougelikes. Its lower difficulty and ease of entry would also make it a great game for anyone looking to try this style of game for the first time.
really really good game. it's addictive to play and easy to casually start up a new run while still letting me go serious+focus if i want to. also, if this helps anyone else my (linux) laptop is old and can't run a lot of the newer games that come out, but I was able to run this one with the following command in Launch Options wine ~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/Combolands/Combolands.exe %command% along with using proton 7.0-6 in compatability
Great game if you like Roguelikes and/or City Builders :)
i like big numbr town
It's a pretty fun little rouguelike citybuilder that's low stress. Would be nice if you could save between milestones, because sometimes I get ganked in the middle of them
Deceptively simple gameplay and wildly addictive! If you have any love for Balatro or any love for Sim City/Cities Skylines, you will probably love this game. If you love both of those games, then go ahead and put in for some vacation time because you will not be able to stop playing.
yo i really like this soundtrack
