This game was very fun, but also a lil straight-forward and easy. I wish runs were a little longer, I always felt like they ended as my combos we're JUST getting strong. The balance is a little funky, Industrial is by far the most broken and easy guild to win with. You can entirely neglect any other guild you combo with and get 40,000 points easily with just industrial buildings. The relics/items are peak rogue-like, some are basically useless, while others are basically a must-pick. Sometimes it can be hard to get a fun and creative combo going, things like railroads and conduits can feel clunky to place if you aren't thinking ahead 300 years in the future or don't have infinite removals. Once I found a good combo for a guild that could consistently get 40k points, I generally just used that all the time and didn't try anything new. It's honestly a fun little city builder, found myself wanting to be able to build things out more and not just be able to place one building at a time. It made me wish there was some sorta sandbox mode or a city-builder game with the same sort of structure that wasn't about hitting a deadline but just making a super big city that combos out cash to upgrade the buildings more or something. After a while, the game does start to feel a little slow. The starts get fairly boring and can lack variety, making it hard to want to start a new run after you finish one. Seeing the same 3-5 buildings for a third of the run gets a little boring. Some guild combos with lackluster shops and unfavorable map layouts can just get screwed due to bad rng. I give it a solid 8/10

Cute little puzzle game with quick progression. UItimately pretty easy, I would have appreciated some higher difficulty levels.
Good game for the price. 40 hours to 100%. The game's concept is original while still maintaining many of the mechanics and features we know from other rogue-lites. The more inclined you are to city builders and board games, the more you'll like this game. The game is wider than it is deep. There's 21 different combinations of factions that you can play as, each of them changing your pool of options. Compare this to the 3-8 characters from your typical rogue-lite and it really stands out how well it's balanced. The trade off is that the depth lacks, but I'm not really sure how much that's a "downside". Frankly, in a lot of rogue-lites once you get to Accession/Prestige/Rank 12+ the difficult starts the make the game grindy and automatically rule out several playstyles. It often artificially lengthen the games for no real reason other than to ego stroke. Combolands doesn't have that problem because it doesn't have that depth. There's only 10 ranks of difficult so everything viable and you get to the max quickly. Overall, just plain simple goodness at a great price. Just don't expect to play it for more than 2 weeks.
I'm not worried about A.I. - this is the end of humanity. Who made this; Skynet are you there??
I mean, the game is so stinking fun. The combos are endless and breaking the game feels awesome. That's when you know a roguelike did it well: When you catch yourself laughing to yourself at how well you're doing. I hope this game and community continue to grow!
Short and sweet. Around 20h to get all achievements. Would love to see more.
Combolands looks deceptively simple, but there’s a surprisingly deep meta underneath the surface. The combination of different guilds lets you build cities in ways you didn’t even realize were possible, with new synergies and strategies emerging as you experiment. It has it's own take and differentiates itself from games like Islanders, Dorfromantik, and TerraScape. The more you play, the more you discover. Just when you think you’ve figured it out, the game gives you another reason to rethink how you build. Easy to pick up, but with plenty of depth to keep you coming back.
I didn't know I wanted a roguelike citybuilder but when I saw the title I knew that was a thing I wanted and it hasn't disppointed. It's very fun discovering all the different interactions and how you can combine the various buildings to create higher and higher scores.
Fun little tile game with lots of different mechanisms that combine together satisfyingly.
This stripped-down take on city-building "guilds" the lily with mechanics like an upgrade shop, timed council missions, potions, etc. The guilds you will combine are represented by building sets, initially limited to a core handful that you will be desperately bored of by the time you unlock the rest. Recommended for fans of the genre.
