I really liked this game and plan to get back into it.
The first act is amazing. The later ones not so much. Nevertheless, even during its low points, the game manages to hold your attention and your brain keeps spinning ideas on how to optimize your build for the fights ahead.
Really great CRPG. I hope to see the sequel now.
Great RPG and solid improvement over Age of Decadence.
The genre vibes are sort of fallout 1/2 or pathfinder (turn based) but more grounded and in smaller scale (which is not bad, just different). Technically kinda clanky and rough, low budget feels strong through engine/world interactions/physics/animations etc. Atmosphere and setting are great, probably major strength of the game. Character building and inventory/loot gearing/trade systems are fine (i always need more and deeper/complex). Unique stealth approach was interesting. Music is cool. Plot is fine. Philosophical themes make the game mature and serious. Overall i love the direction, this type of games is kinda rare, hope next title will be more technically polished and bigger in every aspect.
Iron Tower Studio delivers another difficult game where your progression and choices matter. A classic CRPG for the modern player. You will like this game if you like: -Intricate storytelling. -Intertwined political intrigue. -Grey characters. -A developed and interesting setting/world. -Difficult combat that does not always result in actual, tangible rewards other than your own survival. -Replayability. You will not like this game if you do not like: -Difficult choices. -A very harsh realism (Iron Tower games are not meant to be power fantasies; combat reflects this storytelling choice) -Games where building your character is just as important as the choices you make. -Lots of text. -Having to retry encounters. -Dystopian scifi and 'social darwinism' as themes. For all of its tags, Colony Ship gives you what it advertises, and does it well. Highly recommended for what it is.
This game was very compelling from start to finish. The story is intricate but also respected the player's time and choices. I felt that all the decisions I made, big and small, had an impact. Sometimes the small decisions even ended up having a larger than expected impact. The combat felt good as well as fair. At times I would encounter very difficult fights that seemed impossible to get past, but if I came back with a better plan and better equipment (particularly consumables) I was able to get through them. The factions were well fleshed out and believable with a myriad of very human motivations. Even though the gameplay was good, the narrative was what really kept me going. The climax of the story also threw some curveballs but not in a way that felt forced or unbelievable, and I was impressed by the amount of choice offered in the endings. All in all a great experience from start to finish.
It's been a while since I played this game, but I decided to leave a review since at the end of the day, I want to see more games from this developer. You can take from this what you will
Fantastic game, took most of the criticism from AoD turned it around. I like the freedom much more in this game. Will write more later.
A solid game overall, enjoyed the setting of the game and the story
