About
Bringing us back to the golden days of zombie games when things were simple to learn yet hard to master; Code-Black includes all the features we all love and cherish about zombies, and FPS games.
Zombies are no fun unless you can chop their limbs off, am I right? ~ Dismemberment also has its own hidden secrets and features, all I can say is, head is good!
Gore is a work in progress, and as the game moves from Early Access to a full release I plan to make many improvements to this core feature.
Rugir having many different combat skills loves to use melee weapons to hack at enemies out of clear enjoyment.
During Early Access there are only a limited number of melee weapons, they are a work in progress, but over time the systems and feel of the melee combat will improve substantially, and more weapons will be added.
Flying enemies shoot various types of radiated projectiles. On top of surviving hordes of zombies, you will need to watch out for these little guys, shoot them down, and dodge their projectiles, which not only keep you on your toes at all times, but grant additional xp to buy things around the world.
Rugir is capable of some interesting movement mechanics for you to get the upper-hand, or the "upper-draft" on the zombies.
Each ability gives you the opportunity to earn additional xp if you get kills during tricks, and grant trickshot stats.
While abilities take stamina, they also allow you to easily get out of tough situations if used correctly. Most tricks also have a bullet time state, smoothly modifying time dilation, and allow for some cool slow-mo highlights.
Nearly every gun in the game can be also used in Akimbo, being a core mechanic for the weapon systems, there is only a couple weapons throughout the whole game that cannot be upgraded to Akimbo at the Weapon Armory.
Rugir is somehow not dead from shooting up a wack-load of unknown substances, in fact, hes seemed to have gained some weird supernatural or superhuman like abilities.
Each perk grants its own unique status, providing additional health, movement and reload speeds, additional weapon slots, and more!
Weapons all have the ability to be customized and upgraded at various machines within the world; Including the "Weapon Armory," "Mystery Slots," the "Teslectrifier," and the "Crafting Bench"
All upgrades have an overall effect on the weapon, increasing stats, changing camo's, and sometimes completely changing the bullets to provide a whole new experience to each weapon and each upgrade.
Mastering the weapon upgrades will be a huge helping hand to progressing and staying alive, without upgrading weapons you will have a hard time killing enemies in the higher rounds.

Each Level features a large open world with many unique locations, abandoned structures, underground passages, and dangerous environments to explore. Whether you venture off the beaten path or search every corner, there will always be something new waiting to be found.
All throughout the world, there are many hidden areas and secrets ready to discover, including weapons, enemies, abilities, perks, upgrades, collectables, intel, easter-eggs, and much more!
Each major update will introduce even more to discover and unlock. As the game moves closer to full release, every level will continue to expand with new secrets, hidden content, and rare discoveries that even the most dedicated players may never uncover.

Code-Black introduces many different stats to compete for on the global Leaderboards, including but not limited to; Kills, Headshots, Critical Kills, Rounds Survived, and my favorite, Teabags.
"During an unexpected event humanity was blindsided by mass outbreak. With the majority being taken by the infection, and the military left helpless. The ones living are hiding, or forced to scavenge, survive, and fight in this living graveyard."
~ Rugir J.z [ Jam Zeus ]
Rugir is an avid treasure hunter and explorer, while also being a trained assassin, skilled in the art of combat and firearms.
Imprisoned for his crimes, he wakes up with a loss of memory, not knowing how he got where he is.
As Rugir finds his way through the world, he has no loss of skills, and survival instinct kicks in as the dead start to rise, and the infected are only starting to increase in numbers. Finding Weapons, Perks, Abilities, and various clues along the way, Rugir starts to unfold his past, regain some of his memories, and uncovering the truth about why he ended up where he is, and how to escape.
This game is solo-developed, and will remain in Early Access until the community and I are completely happy with the state of the game.
I work as often as I can on improving every aspect of the game. Enemies, weapons, movement abilities, perks and power ups, exploration, puzzles and easter eggs, hidden collectables, achievements, customization, environment art, optimization, and everything I possibly can that adheres to the gameplay experience.
My main focus is having a solid core gameplay loop, making sure there are no game-breaking bugs, or major performance issues.
Many features, mechanics, and art will be improved and added in the future.

Its fine... but thats it. If you have an hour free and cant leave the house to spend $5 on a snack its fine. Excellent price for what you get tho. Its trying to do too much for early access. Insteak of being spread too thin, I think the dev should focus on just making a good zombie game first, and then adding the extras. Pros: +Brain-off game that feels like diet cod zombies. +Combo headshots are busted for score/money farming. +Map is huge. idk: ~Theres parkour stuff ~Moon jump breaks AI and you're totally safe anywhere high up where the zombies don't teleport. ~Graphics are ok on max settings? I can't tell too much because its super dark. Flashlight helps but its a fix for a problem that could be removed. +Priced at $5 US so its a steal I guess? Cons: -AI art on the perks? I would be happier with mspaint drawings tbh because they're all these orb potion vials that look almost the same. -Zombies teleport around to follow you if you're far away so you can't get an absurd amount of distance away to read upgrades or search for things -Map is huge. -Couldn't find the key for the diner-looking area after an hour. (skill issue?) -Amp perk, armory upgrades, and the teslectrifier upgrades feel like they're just skins because the damage/zombie health scaling feels like it isn't working right. -Because of this↑ , The $5000 sniper is equivalent to any smg in regards to kill power.

Still deep in early access, a lot of the features are not present yet, such as customization, but the main gameplay loop is there. The goal is to survive enemy waves and unlock new paths. Enemies spawn from patches of dirt around the corners of a mapand move toward you, either slowly or at a run. There is no radar or map, so you need to keep moving and constantly look around to spot them before they get close or appear right behind you. Each enemy you kill gives you money that you can spend on weapons. However, you can only buy them from icons on the walls, and each icon represents a specific weapon, so you cannot buy just anything you want. The icons never disappear because while the first purchase unlocks the weapon, every purchase after that simply refills its ammo. There are plenty of weapons available, but you have no idea how they compare in terms of damage, fire rate, or other stats. The main way to spend money is by lowering barriers that expand the arena. This gives you more room to maneuver and access to additional weapon icons, although some areas can only be unlocked from the right side. Expanding the arena also leads to slot machines and perk machines, but you first need to power them by locating a generator. Once you pay the required price, a slot machine offers three random weapons, and you can choose one. This can create ammo problems because you might not have access to that weapon's wall icon, but ammo boxes solve this by refilling all of your ammunition, although they are more expensive. Perk machines, on the other hand, let you buy abilities such as a better jump or dash. Expanding the arena gives you more room to move, but even though enemies always spawn from the closest point to you, you can jump onto a ledge and shoot them from a safe distance. If you leave one enemy alive, you can safely explore the stage for power lines and keys that unlock special doors. Unfortunately, the keys are not marked in any way and can be hidden anywhere, making them almost impossible to find unless you stumble across them by sheer luck. The first map is huge. It starts inside a museum before expanding onto the surrounding streets, but even that ends at locked areas displaying a "Coming Soon" message. Eventually, you will run out of things to do, so the only option is to let yourself get killed. Doing so takes you to the experience screen, where you fill a progress bar toward the next rank before returning to the main menu to start another run. At the moment, the game offers very little content, but it also comes at a low price.

Developed and published by Plague Doctor Studios, Code-Black is an ambitious first-person zombie survival title that combines open-ended exploration, intense firefights, and character progression within a devastated world overrun by the infected. The game places players in the role of Rugir J.z, one of the few survivors caught in the early days of a catastrophic outbreak that rapidly destroys civilization despite military intervention. Rather than relying solely on cinematic storytelling, the game builds its narrative through the dangerous environments players explore and the constant struggle to survive against overwhelming odds. Its premise may be familiar to fans of the genre, but it is supported by mechanics that encourage discovery, experimentation, and continuous progression. A major strength of Code-Black lies in its emphasis on exploration. The game's primary setting, Ground Zero, is designed as a sprawling location filled with hidden pathways, collectibles, secret areas, easter eggs, and valuable equipment. Players are encouraged to move beyond the critical path, rewarding those who thoroughly investigate abandoned buildings and isolated corners of the map. This approach gives the world a greater sense of depth, making exploration feel meaningful instead of simply serving as filler between combat encounters. The steady stream of hidden upgrades and unlockable content also creates a satisfying gameplay loop that motivates players to revisit areas and search for every available advantage. Combat is built around fast-paced gunplay and brutal encounters with hordes of infected enemies. Rather than treating zombies as generic targets, Code-Black introduces a dismemberment system that allows players to destroy individual limbs while fighting. This feature adds an extra layer of visual impact and tactical variety, making each battle feel more dynamic than simply emptying magazines into enemies. The developers also hint that the dismemberment mechanic contains additional gameplay possibilities beyond its graphic presentation, encouraging players to experiment with different weapons and combat techniques. Combined with increasingly dangerous enemy encounters, these mechanics aim to deliver a tense survival experience where careful resource management is just as important as accurate shooting. The progression system appears equally promising thanks to its variety of weapon enhancement options. Instead of constantly replacing firearms with stronger versions, players can improve their existing arsenal through several specialized stations, including crafting systems, upgrade benches, mystery-based enhancements, and unique weapon modifications. Alongside these upgrades are perks and abilities that gradually strengthen the player's capabilities while allowing different playstyles to emerge. This layered progression gives players long-term goals beyond simple survival, ensuring that exploration and combat consistently contribute to meaningful character development throughout the adventure. Since Code-Black is launching through Early Access, the current version represents the foundation of a larger project rather than its completed vision. The developers have outlined plans to expand content, improve graphics, refine gameplay systems, enhance controller support, optimize performance, and incorporate community feedback over the course of development. Their transparency regarding the game's current scope helps establish realistic expectations while demonstrating a commitment to continuous improvement. Players who enjoy participating in the growth of an evolving title may appreciate watching the project mature, while those seeking a fully polished experience may prefer waiting for its complete release. From an overall perspective, Code-Black demonstrates solid potential by blending familiar zombie survival concepts with rewarding exploration, customizable progression, and satisfying combat mechanics. Its post-apocalyptic atmosphere, emphasis on hidden discoveries, and extensive weapon upgrade systems provide enough variety to distinguish it from many traditional zombie shooters. While the Early Access status means some features remain unfinished and further refinement is still needed, the underlying design shows considerable promise. If Plague Doctor Studios successfully delivers on its planned updates and continues expanding the game's content, Code-Black has the potential to become an enjoyable and memorable entry in the zombie survival genre. Rating: 6/10
