Its a short game, but its extremely fun and has a lot of replay value.
really fun hurts my eyes tho I wanna 100 % it but I have to take long breaks cuz of headaches
Closest comparison is neon white, but with scoring. Fun few levels, getting DMND ranks requires a decent bit of routing and styling on enemies, but not terribly difficult. There is story and lore, but i didnt find many of the terminals while i was trying to optimize the levels, ill probably look for them eventually. If the game looks halfway interesting to you, it will probably be fun. Big fan of the marathon bunny girl taking up a quarter of my screenspace.

Before I ramble, this game is awesome. it has an Awesome art style and really fun and addicting gameplay loop. The ranking system that's meant for an achievement is a great addition and leaves me satisfied at the end of a level. I highly recommend this game especially with that $10 price tag. I got 5 hours out of it just doing all the basic content of diamond ranking the base levels and the bonus levels. As for the rambling: I wasn't expecting it to be a speedrun/flowstate type of game. So I was a little disappointed when I first figured that out. Regardless it was a great time, I try to avoid these types of games because they suck me in and I get stuck trying to beat a time and optimize. I'm glad they added a ranking system to the game to give me an out so I can actually have an excuse to progress. That score goal feels necessary for a guy like me. Neon White had that issue for me. I personally felt like I couldn't progress on levels until I beat my friends times which led me to never beating the game and just staying on the first half of the game, the ranking system really just gives me a basic goal to achieve and be satisfied.
Fast-paced dopamine gameplay with a great OST. It’s unfortunate that the game is so short, but there’s plenty of replayability if you want to climb the leaderboards.
if you liked neon white and marathon, you will love this. its a short game, good replayability. its got a wonderful soundtrack with quite nice storytelling. its everything i ever could've wanted and more from an fps speedrunner. controls are easy. ive never been more inspired to create more than now in my entire life. please play this game.
at the core of a dying place, a voice screams for an encore pull the strings and i'll snap CICADAMATA" (i love this game... also, YURIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-)
yall cappin on yalls scores on god
CICADAMATA is one of the most visually stunning games I've ever played. The sound design + HUD effects light my brain up like a Christmas tree. The character you control is fast and fluid, and the enemy/level designs make for an interesting puzzle to solve each level. The developer should be extremely proud of what they've made. That being said, I really do not like how scoring works. I think CICADAMATA is at its best when you are zooming around the map, taking down enemies as fast as possible, and finding the most time efficient routes to each core. The scoring system on the other hand encourages taking down enemies in a particular way, and much less about the speed at which you clear a level. For example, "trampolining" on turrets yields about double the points you'd receive for just shooting one. It makes going for the diamond ranks really boring when you constantly have to break your own momentum to stomp in place 3 times. It all just feels counter intuitive to the skill curve of this game when the scoring system encourages a less mechanically demanding playstyle. After clearing the game once I really don't see myself going back to get all the diamond ranks, which is fine, but $10 might be too much for a <2 hour game with less than enjoyable replay value.
A nice lil 2 hours of tripping on LSD with a *joyeuese*. I wish the initial campaign length was longer, but with its ranking system and extra achievements, the game's still got meaningful things to offer long-term. CICADAMATA definitely left me in a ZONE, and it's worth playing.
