Reviews
honestly one of the most underrated games I have ever played.
Child of Light, developed by Ubisoft Montréal and released in April 2014, is a captivating role-playing game that transports players into a whimsical, watercolor-painted world. Drawing inspiration from classic Japanese RPGs, the game offers a unique blend of turn-based combat, platforming, and puzzle-solving, all wrapped in a poetic narrative. Despite its relatively short playtime, Child of Light leaves a lasting impression with its charming aesthetics and heartfelt storytelling. The game's narrative follows Aurora, a young princess who finds herself transported to the magical land of Lemuria. Guided by the firefly Igniculus, Aurora embarks on a quest to restore the stolen sun, moon, and stars. The story unfolds through rhyming dialogue, which, while poetic, has been noted by some players as occasionally forced or distracting. Nevertheless, the narrative's emotional depth and themes of loss, courage, and hope resonate throughout the journey. Visually, Child of Light is a masterpiece. The game's art style is heavily influenced by the works of John Bauer and other Golden Age illustrators, resulting in a world that feels like a living painting. The hand-drawn environments, coupled with dynamic lighting effects, create a dreamlike atmosphere that immerses players in Lemuria's beauty. The character designs are equally enchanting, with Aurora and her companions brought to life through expressive animations and unique silhouettes. The combat system in Child of Light is turn-based, with a twist. Each character has a timeline that determines when they can act, and players must manage this timeline to execute attacks, defend, or use items strategically. The inclusion of a companion system adds depth to battles, allowing players to customize their party and tactics. While the combat is engaging, some players have found it to become repetitive over time, especially given the game's emphasis on exploration and puzzle-solving. Exploration in Child of Light is a joy. The game encourages players to venture off the beaten path, uncovering hidden treasures, solving environmental puzzles, and interacting with the world in meaningful ways. The platforming elements are seamlessly integrated, with Aurora's ability to glide and interact with the environment adding a layer of interactivity that enhances the exploration experience. The soundtrack, composed by Cœur de Pirate, complements the game's tone perfectly. The music is hauntingly beautiful, with melodies that evoke a sense of wonder and melancholy. The ambient sounds and subtle audio cues further immerse players in the world of Lemuria, making every moment feel significant. Despite its many strengths, Child of Light is not without its drawbacks. Some players have reported technical issues, particularly with the game's performance on certain platforms. Additionally, the game's reliance on rhyming dialogue, while unique, may not appeal to all players and can occasionally disrupt the flow of the narrative. In conclusion, Child of Light is a beautifully crafted game that offers a rich, emotional experience. Its blend of captivating storytelling, stunning visuals, and engaging gameplay make it a standout title in the RPG genre. While it may not be without its flaws, the game's charm and depth are undeniable, making it a must-play for fans of narrative-driven games. Rating: 8/10

14 of 15 markets; the rest we haven't asked for this title, not markets where it is unavailable.
14 on sale1 answered “not sold”0 we did not ask
The 1 “not sold” market is read from the Steam price pass of Sep 11: that day the store answered for this game elsewhere and gave no price there. The 14 priced markets are the same rows as the table above — each the latest price we hold, dated here when it is older than that pass. The 0 marked “not asked” were not put to this store at all — either it has no storefront there or we do not collect it yet, and neither is a statement about the game. A refusal is a refusal on one day; a store can list a title again tomorrow.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,420 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's alright. It's a paper mario clone in a fairy tale world that is done rather well, and if that sounds good then give it a go.
Joguim massa man, curti bagarai.
Very charming and fun game. The music stays in my mind long after I've stopped playing. The gameplay is simple enough to get used to but not too easy as to get bored with. Not flawless; there is a glitch that makes only a fourth of the dialogue appear unless a new save file is started. Also, about half the time I open the game it and hit continue it crashes but then runs perfectly when I open it again.
Beautiful and concise. I feel it was quite hard at the start (played in casual). Easier as we go, but enough difficulty overall. Really love the battle system with its active time and slowing mechanic. The writing and the world is beautiful. The dialogues are like poetry and the world feels like a nicely illustrated storybook, especially the towns.
I've played through this from start to end on switch, and now playing it here. Child of Light is probably my biggest surprise that i jumped into this year. I expected something that would just pass a little time, but instead I got something that hit every sense just right. This is probably the closest a game has ever come to a perfect work of art that I have ever seen any come. it is amazing. But the weird thing is that, because of being a sensory overload, it is exhausting to play in long blocks. There is so much I have to take in at once, I just need breaks. But every second played it just full of love. This will go down as one of the best games I have ever played...easy. Drawback: Ubisoft.
Jogo bom, jogo bonito, jogo bem feito!
I think this is cute but you have to be ok with the endless poetry. It's A LOT
