CAYNE is a short science fiction horror adventure that starts with a pretty horrible situation. I play as Hadley, a woman who wakes up inside a strange facility while nine months pregnant, with no idea why she is there or why the people running the place want her baby. From there I have to explore the facility, search through rooms, use different computer systems and work out how to escape. The setup immediately gives the game a dark atmosphere, and I like that it does not waste much time getting me into the situation. The strongest part for me is the atmosphere. The isometric environments are full of blood, machinery, medical equipment and disturbing little details, and the game does a good job making the facility feel like somewhere I really do not want to be. Hadley is also a more unusual protagonist for this kind of horror game, and the fact that she is heavily pregnant makes some of the situations feel even more uncomfortable. The fully animated characters and voice acting help the story feel more alive too. I especially like the way the computer systems and other objects around the facility can be interacted with because it makes exploring feel worthwhile. The point and click gameplay is simple but works well for the short adventure. I spend most of my time examining objects, collecting things, combining items and working out how they can help me progress. Some of the puzzles are satisfying when I understand what the game is asking me to do, although I do think a few of them can be a little awkward. There are moments where I know I have found the right general idea but still have to search around for the exact object or interaction the game expects. It does not completely ruin the experience, but it does make the slower parts stand out more. The story is another thing I have mixed feelings about. I like the mystery surrounding Hadley and the facility, and there are enough disturbing discoveries to keep me interested in finding out what is happening. At the same time, the game is clearly connected to the wider STASIS universe, so some parts feel like they are setting up or adding to something bigger rather than telling a completely separate story. I think the setting is more interesting than the amount of story I actually get to explore, and the short length means some ideas are introduced without having much room to develop them. The biggest weakness for me is definitely the limited length and fairly basic puzzle design. CAYNE is completely free and gives me a polished looking horror adventure with voice acting, animated characters, achievements and a proper story, so I cannot complain too much about the amount of content. Still, once I have finished it, there is not a huge amount of reason for me to return unless I want to replay it or complete the achievements. I also think some of the more extreme gore can feel like it is trying harder to shock me than actually frighten me, although it fits the grim setting. I do appreciate how much effort went into the presentation considering this is a free game. The HD isometric backgrounds look good, the environments have plenty of detail and the sound design helps make the facility feel unpleasant without relying entirely on cheap scares. The game also supports several languages and has full voice acting, which adds a lot to the overall presentation. For me, that makes the experience feel much closer to a proper commercial adventure game than I expected when I first started it. Overall, CAYNE is a good short horror adventure with a strong setting and a memorable opening. I like the grim science fiction atmosphere, unusual protagonist, detailed environments and point and click exploration, while the short length and occasional awkward puzzles stop it from reaching the highest ratings I give to adventure games. The story could also have gone deeper, but there is enough here to make the experience worthwhile, especially since I can play the entire game for free. It is not a perfect horror game, but I think it does enough with its limited scope to make the time I spend with it worthwhile. Rating: 7.5/10

i DO recommend it, However, looking for the exact thing to click on gets tricky as hell sometimes and some of the item combo are not just odvious. I enjoyed the plot, kinda knew what was going to happen but fun all the same. Great looking game.
Puzzles are obtuse, the writing is terrible, and as others have said, bits border on making one wonder if there isn't something fetish involved here. Whoever modeled the protag certainly has a fetish, because dear god, on what planet do real womens' hips bulge a foot beyond the width of their shoulders while their a$$ also looks like a failed Kardashian implant? Nvm the ridiculously long dialogues you can't skip, all while you have no control of your character, and you move like absolute molasses. I would think it was to pad runtime, but why you would make that decision on a free game is beyond me? Stasis is only marginally better, but mind you, the devs think it's a masterpiece because every response they have to criticisms is "Play our other games, they're great!"
