Cute game. The starting area is just a tutorial though and lasts about 20min, then you'll start the tower where the real game is. It's also short but can last longer depending on how well you deal with the 51 premade rooms. The island part you beat 3 bosses then you're forced into the tower, so there is no going back to the island at that point. I think you can only miss heart tanks that that tower will bump you down to 2 of anyway. The tower adds coins that vanish after 1sec (i'm guessing to get you killed trying to grab them in a hurry) that give xp and on a levelup you get to pick 1 of 3 rng symbols that don't tell you what they do. yes, 1/2 a heart gives you a Htank after you get 2 but does the pick make the pick stronger or faster???both??? who knows, look it up i guess. Gameplay is like zelda with a roll, sword swing (no charge or projectile), a hookshot and a pickaxe to break rocks/shells. Both sub weapons do damage to enemies but the hookshot will do a little less than the sword though the pickaxe will do more but is slower. I paid $2 something for this but the games only has about an hour or 2 of content depending on how one plays and isn't very deep. If you don't mind the short length and want a simple zelda like game go for it.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Obvia inspiración del TLoZ: Link's Awakening. (o˘◡˘o) ¿Vale la pena? Si, pero si esta en buen descuento. Solo es un micro mundo de 3 mazmorras pequeñas y un desafío de torre de 50 pisos.
I don't remember how I found out about Castaway. Maybe it was because of TikTok and seeing the developer show off some of it. Maybe it was a recommendation and it looked cool to me. All I know is that I picked up last week on a whim with the soundtrack for under 5. The story follows a young boy who's traveling in space when his ship gets shot down. They all crash on the planet below. After our hero wakes up, his stuff gets stolen, as well as his beloved dog. So he has to recover his stuff and save his dog. That's the plot. The main quest is incredibly short. I beat it in 30 minutes. And I wanted more of it has a great feel to the puzzles. Granted, it was basic, it got me excited for a full blown game. It reminds me a lot of Link's Awakening with the GB inspired graphics and gameplay. The soundtrack is rather enjoyable. Then there's the tower mode. A 50 floor tower with psuedo-randomized skills. It's not a bad mode. It is also somewhat short as floors are a screen long. The problem is that the gameplay doesn't support the maneuverability or the combat necessary for a mode like this to work effectively. If this was a side quest in a main quest, I wouldn't mind that much. However, this is the main pull for the game. And it just doesn't work as well as necessary for a situation like this. Castaway is such a mixed bag. On the one hand, it is an incredibly charming game that wears its inspiration on its sleeves. On the other, it is far too short and not properly balanced. It makes the game look like a tech demo. A very charming one, but a tech demo all the same. As such, it makes it difficult to recommend It isn't worth 8 dollars. And the soundtrack, while good, cannot carry this game. If it is on steep discount, get it. IF there's a way to get the soundtrack without the game, go for that. The developers have so much promise. I hope they fulfill it with their next game.
This game is well worth the $8. As a 90's kid (born in 1990 so yes my childhood was in the 90's) I can absolutely say that the art, music, and game mechanics are all on point in this nostalgic game. I'm a definitely a fan of the Legend of Zelda series and can appreciate the parallels of inspiration, which I think is great because I believe that iconic games should inspire others to give the gaming community more of something good. The story is a bit short, but was still really enjoyable, hopefully there is a DLC or sequel in the works with more story gameplay. The tower was really engaging and the more I died the more I was driven to overcome (and eventually did), even my 6 year old was joining the fight to help conquer the tower. I'm seeing other commentors in the Steam page complain about certain Tower levels (like level 44 with the boulders and spikes) and honestly it took a bit to think it through but eventually I got the timing down to accommodate the duration of the boulder push mechanic. As a 90's kid gamer, we understand perseverance and how to rise to the challenge. So I think that those who complain have a skill issue lol. Anyway that's my two cents, great game and would love to see more. Great job!!
Should have been a free game on itch io, this is a demo, not a real game.
Short and sweet. Takes less than an hour, so maybe buy it on sale.
Well done game but it feels more like a demo than a full game. Even the content that's there gets pretty repetitive in the less than an hour it takes to beat. The price is a little steep for what you get
Great little Zelda clone
