(Pirates of the Caribbean)

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Overall Great Game! However, it does have it's issues. The game is brutal for beginners, while it has improved a lot over the last 2 years, the fact remains that the game often doesn't tell you what you need to do or does it in a confusing way. As a result many players never make it past the first few hours of gameplay. This explains most of the negative reviews. The devs are working on it and have made the beginner experience better, but unfortunately the early game is still best played with a guide or through trial and error. The game is also fairly hard. Frequent quick saving is mandatory, otherwise you will be frustrated a lot and fail many quests. If you can look past these two issues, it's one of the greatest Pirate games ever made in my opinion.
Guilty pleasure, которое не стоит рекомендовать
дошёл до квеста где надо боеприпасы в форт отшрузить и всё,игра вылетает...
Frustrating early game – vague quests and punishing systems I’ve been playing Caribbean Legend and I really want to like it, but the early game is driving me crazy. A lot of systems feel unclear or just poorly explained, and the quests often leave you guessing. Main issues I’ve run into: Quests are way too vague. After helping Tichingitu, some officer gives you an escort job with almost no useful information. The log doesn’t really tell you what to do. Same problem with the “patrol for a slave ship” quest – it mentions the spyglass but doesn’t explain you can only use it in local sailing, and getting too close forces you into combat before you can even check the ship. The provisions system is weird. I bought 50 rum, it showed up in the Hold, but it never counted under Supplies. Food and medicine worked fine. I only got the crew option after selling down to exactly 10 rum. Nothing in the quest told me that. Early combat is brutal. Right after the Tichingitu quest you get jumped by a fleet of four ships. Your starting ship and the ship you’re escorting stand no chance. You get boarded and die almost immediately. Even after the fight the hunters keep chasing you. Basic stuff like repairing at the shipyard, transferring items to officers, or using the spyglass is either missing options or just not explained well. I get that the game doesn’t want to hold your hand, but right now it crosses into feeling unfinished or broken. The lack of clear feedback and the sudden difficulty spikes are making the early hours really frustrating. I like the atmosphere and the potential, but I’m getting close to just putting it down. Would appreciate some clearer quest text and better early-game balance.
Recommended
Buy full price if you have the money, the 200 hour story is easily worth money, since it is “playable”. Buy on sale if you have something else to play. Don't buy, if you are not ready to see that AC Black Flag is secretly a rails shooter. I never understood how 9 year old me was able to finish this without understanding english or a guide. I do understand why he was so frustrated. Definitely do not recommend this for your kids, its mental torture at that age… Caribbean legend is very niche. The game is built on an engine that has been reused for 20 years. I remember playing Pirates of the Caribbean (Disney version) when I was a child and was quite delighted when I saw this game on steam. As I said it is niche, I enjoyed it for the childhood nostalgia, the updates are a welcome treat. Combat is still as frustrating. Now I know kid me had no chance but to smash controllers. Some quests objectives are unfair and require you to save scum. It has a different story compared to PotC but the engine and mechanics were the same upon the release of this game. Since then the devs actually gave a lot of love, improving graphics, improving game mechanics that make naval battles more interesting, adding quest waypoints which is a nice addition (check out this guide but it does spoil the main questline. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1286690349) Over the course of 2-3 years I picked this up. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat (or alt tabbing) for 200 hours. A guide is really recommended since some rewards are locked behind specific dialogue options. Some quests are time sensitive although this can be turned off. DLC was added, I have not bought any. Mostly ship packs and some interesting mechanics that could have been part of the base game. Given that it is 40 euro’s it would have been nice. Is it worth the price? Kinda depends, it is not near triple A quality. It does a healthy amount of improvements. It has a lot of depth storywise (I mean peek at the guide, I had to make my own quest tracker because I was done with scrolling through 308 pages of text scanning for the right turns to take to reach yet another cave). So if you want a deep story with naval combat and you accept that the engine is dated and the graphics are stuck in 2010 then yes. If you expect Black Flag level of polish then no wait for a sale.
Naval combat
Naval combat is the main part of this. You can find other ships on the global map where you can traverse around. Engage them to trade (never did it though), ask them for prices/rumors on merchant transports (never did it either) or just attack them. You can either sink them or get sinked or board them. They might surrender before or during boarding. Or you might have to go all the way to the captains cabin and duel the captain. After that you get to loot it. The combat itself requires you to take in wind conditions, the type of sails your ship has and to wait for your cannons to be reloaded. Your sails take damage, your ship slows down. You have different ammo types for different purposes. I mostly use Knippels to cripple their speed (the chain shot) or buckshot to blast their crew to tiny pieces before boarding. There are two modes: Dynamic vs Tactical. Its mostly speed and penalties. Tactical makes ships turn slower and no speedboating against the wind. Reloading is slower etc. Which sounds cool, but also time consuming. With the new aiming mechanic its quite good, in which direction your cannons fire, stern to bow or reverse or freely, in which the cannons just blast away.
Land Combat
Okayish, it has a steep learning curve. And after 2-300 hours I still get clapped when multiple enemies attack me at once. You have your sword, your pistol, possibly a musket and armor. These all come in various shapes and forms. You can block, parry, attack. Kinda paper-rock-scissors, there is no special combos or ultimates just plain and simple. Luckily you can spam potions but combat is unforgiving and at first you will die a lot. Poor kid me. The reason why it is so unforgiving is that sometimes it is not even about your skills its just that they throw 8 enemies at once in a small cave. They do as much damage to you as you do to them. So if you do not funnel them (which for some reason does not work since they just push you out now) you are getting hit by 4-5 enemies that do not wait their turn but just start blasting (with pistols and swords). Any one that tells you they mastered this combat: XD. Aint no mastering this combat, it is just plain unfair. But you will accept death, love it, and **** it. As pirates do. There aint no shame in using a cheat mod to turn on immortality. Not in this game. Save scumming is already a valid, required necessity anyways. Every time you die you go back to your last save. You die a lot. Well you get the drill. You will be hitting F6 even more than you alt tab to read the guide you are following.
Trading, plundering and piracy
So the naval combat yay, the land combat nay. How is actual piracy. You can trade, which comes down to buying european products where they are low, transporting and selling them where colonial products are low and european high and vice versa. Pretty straightforward if you get the hang of it. NPC’s can give you rumors on ships that transport a lot of booty, arrr piracy. Piracy which comes with penalties by the faction (Spain, England, Holland or France) you are pirating against. Which comes with bounty hunters and no entering ports without lead flying past your ship. This is kinda the main grime with the game. The trading (European for colonial) and main story, give you so much wealth that in the early game you are already taking hundreds of thousands of interest from millions stored in banks. The wealth does not scale well, a quest that requires you to pay a lot, for a poor guy just arriving from Europe, is laughable at best when rolling around in millions with overpowered quest ships.
The charity underdog?
Basically the whole game you are treated as up and coming. NPC’s give you quest for a few thousand pesos that require you to sail for 5 minutes. This does not scale. Early mid game these are not even worth, you are spending 100k on upkeep, they want you to sail for half a month escorting them for 17k, math doesnt add up. You might take trade goods with you to it at least profitable. Issue is that this will make it instantly too profitable and you slap another 500k on your gold hoard. 17k is literally pennies at this point and does not justify the babysitting (and potential penalty to reputation if they get slapped). But hey if you feel a sense of redemption by running a charity with gold you earned by killing thousand of exactly the same NPC's, then go ahead and buy of your guilt. These quests are perfect for that. All people treat you like you are scraping by, yet most of the time around rank 20 you have millions in the bank, taking millions of interest a month. Your cabin is a treasure chest that would that dragon from LotR come in and swoop his *** on your ship. At that point taking quests feels like charity. So random quests kinda feel nope and the only way to go is the main questline, which gives you more wealth and more overpowered ships. The upcoming economic overhaul might nerf the simple trading, but if you know trading (buy low, sell high) I fear that it will launch your wealth in the stratosphere even faster.
Concluding
Naval combat gud, land combat frustrating at best, narrative arc progress or run a charity for npcs, Quest variety huge for main quest repetitive for NPC quests, Narrative arc: good but doesnt match for the cheese player. It is storm engine, it has been here for 20 years, it probably will be for another 20. It frustated me back then, it still does now. Such is live as Terminator of the Caribbean. 9/10 for govenors treating as a peasant.
A fun sandbox with as much depth and freedom as M&B Warband. It also shares many of the issues with that game. Play on normal difficulty, save scum, and cheese where you can. The combat and quests require such because of bad balance or artificial difficulty. Other than that, the world and story are engaging. Each ship has its own personality and you can easily be a privateer, pirate, trader, or treasure hunter. It's a good game with glaring issues, but if you work around them, the rest is well worth getting it on sale.
Очень скучная игра, боевка удручающая. Сюжет скучный, диалоги примитивные. Не советую.
