this game caused my PC to gain trojans, adware, and causing my PC to go up in flames. WHAT EVER YOU DO, DON'T GET THIS GAME!
DO NOT INSTALL UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES. Roommate and I were prototyping a card game I was working on and our network blacklisted our devices for malware threats shortly after attempting to host an online game.
A bit tough to understand at first when creating a new card game, but a few minutes of following the wiki and testing and you get the hang of it. It would be good to have a feature to edit an already-made game (changing banner, background etc.) but it seems like that is a planned feature. Good so far!

====UPDATED, NEW REVIEW September 2022==== Over the past year the developer has continued work on Card Game Simulator, making significant improvements to the interface and overall experience of using the program. It has also been optimized. Now, my CPU use when running Card Game Simulator is only 18%, and most (if not all) of the lag I experienced has been solved. Card Game Simulator is now a cool tool that game developers can experiment with to get their feet wet or their hands dirty. There's still a barrier to entry, but it's not a barrier that can't be overcome with a little effort. What I find most impressive is that the developer waited until the program had actually been massively improved to respond to my review. That's a rare example of someone letting their actions speak for themselves. Rather than tell us what they plan to do, the developer has shown us what they have already done. ====OBSOLETE, OLD REVIEW January 2022====== I uninstalled and then reinstalled just to gain enough playtime to write this review. CPU usage spiked up to 80%. Computer was not happy. Other programs do what Card Game Simulator does, but better. Needs a lot of work in its current state, which I found basically unusable. Upon launching, you're instructed to watch a YouTube video to learn how to use the program. One of the steps is going into the options menu and pressing a button called Developer Mode. I'm unsure why it isn't just always enabled by default, or what the purpose of this program is, with or without Developer Mode. Instead, I would recommend Card Creator here on Steam - or other tools available online - to anyone looking to develop a card game. Yeah, it costs $40 when it's not on sale, but in this case you get what you pay for.
It's awful, just awful. The UI looks like it's made for windows XP and it looks so bad that It's hard to understand it. And since that's a card games simulator and should be able to make/import card games in there, It does every thing that has nothing with card games. making cards and decks is kinda complicated. AND THE WORST PART IS THAT I CAN'T IMPORT ALL OF MY CARD IMAGES AT THE SAME TIME I MUST UPLOAD IT AND RENAME IT ONE BY ONE. In that case, to upload my game that has 450 CARDS I WOULD TAKE HOURS JUST TO IMPORT IT TO THE GAME WHILE OTHER WEBSITES TAKES COUPLE OF SECONDS. just don't waste your time on this software...... Even if they did has this features already, their UI and documentation is the worst so you will start banging your head in the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ wall because of them
Before I played Card Game Simulator, I had a small pp, no friends, no gf, depression, and no life. These things havent changed, but the game is pretty good
Very simple to learn how to use! Great for playing custom card games! Its an easy drag and drop function, which allows for a variety of card games to be play!
Okay. So I won't pretend for even a singular solitary second that this game doesn't have some pretty exquisitely jank mechanics to it, It can be finicky, difficult and down right frustrating to use and play with sometimes. However, If you can get past all of the jank and initial chaos caused at the start of your games and while you're learning to use this platform this game or rather card game simulator can genuinely be absolutely wonderful. There aren't really many other or just generally any other real alternatives to this that I know of that are A. fairly simple in nature, B. free and C. Not tabletop simulator. It has it's own wonderful little niece that has allowed me and my friends who can't all really afford to buy new games but all love to play card games together to play together again regardless of the distance between us and I truly love this wonderfully little sim for that even if it is a little janky at times. Give it a try and stick with it through learning the basic controlls and you'll have a wonderful time playing cards with your friends again. I wholeheartedly recommend it.
