A fun and addictive little game. A bit grindy, but that is part of the loop. I enjoy trying out different starts and deciding between unlocks and upgrades. It is great to just forget the time and squeeze in a few rounds in between the main games. For the price of a beer, this is pretty good value for money. One bit that is a bit annoying is that grenades are still thrown even after the guy has been killed. Runs smoothly and no crashes.
Perfect game at this price point - simple, enjoyable, recommended.

So, I received this game from the devs, but... It just is not fun. The grind required to even get past the first level is rather unfair and unearned by the game itself. Then when you finally get past the first level and get a new character, you can't even use them without spending even more resources. I had to repeat the first level approximately 12 times with no real changes in how it went before I finally got to the second one. This just was a very unenjoyable experience, but maybe it'll be better once it is actually released.
Terrible game. I gave it too much time and can't get my money back. Avoid at all costs. Should be a free mobile game with ads and even then it would still be terrible value for money.
Action-Packed WWII Incremental
I've been following Cannon Clicker since the beginning, so while this review mostly reflects my experience with the latest version of the game, I've also had the chance to see how it has evolved over time. And it's definitely been evolving in the right direction. The developers have listened to player feedback and acted on it, while also bringing in plenty of their own improvements and new ideas. The recent patches have made an already enjoyable game even better.
Gameplay
The gameplay itself is simple to get into but very satisfying. At its core, each battle is a classic tug-of-war, with the frontline constantly shifting back and forth as both sides send more units into the fight. What I like about it is that the order in which units are spawned - and when you spawn them - actually matters. The way soldiers move across the battlefield makes for some entertaining chaos, with bullets and grenades flying everywhere. Playing the game rewards you with different currencies, bullets being the primary one, which you can spend to work through the upgrade tree. Each unit type has its own separate upgrade path, alongside improvements for your base. The costs and benefits are balanced in a way that makes the progression feel slow but steady - there's almost always something useful to work towards. Early on, it's relatively easy to gain an advantage over the enemy, but as you progress, you need to invest more time into the right upgrades before you're able to deal with increasingly large hordes of enemies.
I actually got caught off guard during my first attempt at one of the maps when the enemy suddenly sent in bombers - and I hadn't invested in anti-air guns yet! Luckily, it didn't take too long to unlock them, so I came back better prepared for another attempt and managed to win the battle this time.
One of the little things that really hooked me is the clickable elements, as they add another layer to the gameplay. Sure, basic chests can turn into a quick clicking session at the start of each round, but others - mines and health chests - introduce actual strategic choices. I particularly enjoy using mines to eliminate certain threats before they become a problem. Their random placement adds a bit of unpredictability and gives the levels more replayability.
Sound
I love the main theme. There could perhaps be two or three more tracks, but nonetheless, the one they chose is perfect and always puts me in a battle-ready mood. For a quick session, it works great, and I've even caught myself humming it during the day :D The gunfire sounds are especially punchy and make shooting feel great.
Difficulty
The difficulty is nicely balanced as well. More challenging levels are mixed with lighter ones, so the game rarely becomes frustrating or exhausting. Some battles can get really close. I've beaten a few levels literally in the last second, and those last-second wins are incredibly satisfying.
Level Design
The level design is probably one of my favourite aspects of the game. There's a lot of attention to detail, and the environments are varied, charming and fun to explore. The different surroundings give each level its own character, and even after quite a few rounds, I still manage to find funny little scenes, like
a freaking guy opening the toilet door and closing it!
I also love the mix of serious and funny art styles. Love it <3
Click It Till You Win It!
Overall, Cannon Clicker is challenging, satisfying and full of charming little details. For this price, it's an absolute banger. A perfect chill game to click away at after a day of work. Most importantly, it's simply a lot of fun to play, and I'm looking forward to seeing where the developers take it next.
Enjoyed it, but too short!!!! Hope updates are coming up!!!!
More Strategy Than You’d Expect from a Clicker!
At first glance, Cannon Clicker may seem like a simple game, but it quickly becomes clear that it gives players plenty of freedom to develop their own strategies. Each battle can be approached in several different ways by choosing different units, investing in different skills and deploying soldiers from the base in the right order. It’s not just about which units you choose, but also when you send them onto the battlefield. My favourite units are definitely the SMG, because it throws grenades and is great at dealing with larger groups of enemies, and the Mortar, which is fantastic at attacking enemies far away from our base. The attacks of both units also come with some really nice visual effects. More importantly, it’s worth experimenting with different army compositions, because a solution that worked on one level may not be as effective in the next battle. I also had a lot of fun with the player and enemy mine mechanics. A well-timed mine can eliminate a dangerous group of enemies at exactly the right moment and make the battle considerably easier. On the other hand, a brief lapse in attention or several events happening at once can allow an enemy mine to ruin your entire plan. This means that simply deploying units from your base isn’t enough - you also need to keep a close eye on the battlefield and react to what is happening. The early levels are enjoyable and, in my opinion, do a good job of teaching the game’s most important mechanics. This includes carefully searching the maps for clickable objects, which are highlighted quite frequently at first. As you progress through the battles, however, these hints appear less often, so it pays to stay alert and look for the objects yourself. The game becomes increasingly interesting later on. It offers plenty of freedom when it comes to progression, but at certain points it also forces you to reconsider your strategy. Sometimes you need to unlock a skill or purchase an upgrade that previously seemed completely unnecessary, only for it to turn out to be the missing piece you need to win a more difficult battle. Because of this, progression never feels like mindlessly buying everything one after another. Another major advantage is the variety of levels and the lovely, colourful visuals. Every map has its own character, and the environment is much more than just a backdrop for the battle. The game takes you through forests, deserts dotted with ancient Egyptian temples, frozen landscapes and wonderfully atmospheric swamps. Some battles unfold across wide-open terrain, while others take place in towns or right outside enemy bases. I have a particular soft spot for Molinara, Desheret, Paludes and Verdalia - they are probably my favourite locations in the game. You can also find plenty of charming and funny little scenes, such as a pianist calmly playing in the middle of a battle, a couple having a picnic on a blanket or a man fishing as if absolutely nothing were happening around him. Details like these make you want to explore the maps and search for more hidden little stories. Then there’s the music, which somehow gets stuck in your memory and starts looping in your head 😉 Cannon Clicker does a great job of combining simple, relaxing gameplay with elements that require observation, good timing and careful planning. The battles can become hilariously chaotic, while still being incredibly satisfying whenever the strategy you came up with works exactly as planned. It’s one of those games where it’s easy to think, “Just one more battle,” only to realise a little later that you’ve played several more. 😊 I definitely recommend it! 💜
Strategy matters. Captivating gameplay. Worth the money. Looking forward to the DLC.
