Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.71/day in the week to Sep 8 → 1.14/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,402 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.
About
A troubled loner with a hunger for cinematic gore finds himself on the other side of the camera when rumors of authentic snuff videotapes lead him to an abandoned cabin near Butcher's Creek, Pennsylvania. What starts as illicit urban exploration becomes a fight for survival when he's captured by a gang of sadistic killers. Now his only option is to pick up a box cutter, a hammer, a pickaxe, or whatever else is at hand, and unleash a little video violence of his own.
Use hammers, axes, pipes, 2x4s, box cutters, and more to brutalize anything that stands between you and freedom
When all else fails, the level itself can be a weapon. Kick props into enemies, or enemies into environment hazards.
Photograph gruesome murder scenes to fulfill your dark desires and regain lost health
Explore decaying farmhouses, collapsing factories, and seedy strip clubs in a forgotten corner of the Appalachian Forest
Experience a unique aesthetic combining the gritty shot-on-video look of found footage with the photosourced visual style of Source Engine games

And now David Szymanski is eaten by bear.
Actually, it's not bad... for Unity games from 2010s.

Spoilers ahead, you've been warned. Butcher's Creek does a lot more right than it does wrong, which is why I recommend it. The combat feels punchy and reactive. Despite its simplicity, it remains fun to engage in throughout the entirety of the game. The various areas you explore are crafted well with just the right amount of gore and grime for the setting. There's enough enemy types to keep you on your toes, and enough weapons to make slaughtering them interesting. Butcher's Creek, all in all, is an excellent experience all the way to the end. But that's just the thing. The game is really good --- until the end. The ending is abrupt; comes with zero climax and/or pomp and circumstance. I was hoping for a boss battle of sorts, or at least a challenging group of enemies, but it seems once you reach The Watcher, that's the end. You're shown a sequence of bright flashing lights and fractured jump cuts of what I can only presume is the aforementioned Watcher, and then bam. Credits. It isn't the wrong thing to do, but it isn't exactly something I appreciated or expected, especially considering you're given the strongest weapon in the game in the last five minutes to, well, use in the last five minutes. It outgrows its usefulness quite fast. This wouldn't bother me as much if The Watcher hadn't been hyped up so much previously through documents you can find and read. However, this wasn't big enough of a thing for me to leave a negative review, because this game is truly a good experience. My qualms are purely limited to artistic direction, and I have nothing bad to say about the core gameplay loop itself.

I'm sorry but this game shouldn't be $10. It's cool at first, but as the game goes on, it feels like a drag. The plot just feels edgy to be edgy, and the combat gets really boring as I dive deeper. The ending wasn't worth my time. I love David Szymanski and their games, but this one just wasn't it. Not to me at least. 5/10
