I've played a lot of puzzle games before, but it's been a very long time since I've been this enthralled by one! — Jasmine_Steel

As far as Chip's Challenge like puzzle games go, Blackshift is probably the strongest one I've played. — Asp

Make your own levels with the built-in level editor, and upload them to the Level Pit where other people can play them. There are thousands of user-created levels in the Pit, each with its own leaderboard. You can even watch replays of other people playing your levels. The Editor and the Pit are both built into the game; you can do everything from within Blackshift itself.

The Mario Maker of puzzle games! I had played this game long ago when I was very young, the name of the game escaped me for many years but it still sat in the back of my mind and I always wanted to find that game. years later I managed to find it and to my surprise a fully fleshed out steam release was made and its amazing! after several hours of playing it I gotta say this game truly is something special, all the mechanics interact with each other in smart and interesting ways and the puzzles are brutally difficult. unlike most puzzle games solving the puzzle is only half the problem, the other half is executing it since these puzzles can require fast pace movement and accurate timing, and this game isn't exactly generous with its checkpoints so you often have to pull off a long series of near perfect play in order to get your next checkpoint the massive variety of different puzzles that can be created with these mechanics is actually amazing, and I do mean CREATE as this game has an amazing level editor and access to community made levels in conclusion this game will really challenge your logic, quick thinking, reflexes and timing skills simultaneously with many mechanics all interacting with each other in ways that will constantly surprise you, it has a level editor and a community level browser built in. if any of that sounds appealing to you then buy this game because there really is nothing else quite like it
More interesting reviews on Puzzle_BR Curator Page
This game is great. The puzzles are creative and very fun to solve. Some puzzles need some skill to be done. I really enjoy to play this game, but I think it need a few major improvements, such as the control of the cart and the support to play with a controller. Score: 7/10.
The original was amazing and I remember it fondly. This is a great continuation / expansion / re-imagining and well worth your time and money!
A top-down maze-based action puzzler, with elements and influences from Sokoban, Chip's Challenge, Boulderdash, and even Deadly Rooms of Death (DROD). Over 100 levels with optional secret challenges you won't even notice at first, and perfect level design. Controls are satisfyingly chunky, with excellent feedback and just the right amount of buffering; and chain reactions are frequent and fun (and often dangerous). There is an optional story, it's not going to blow your mind but it's another layer of interest. Custom levels are implemented seamlessly. Play-testing is instant and you can upload levels to the Level Pit and watch high score replays as well as death reels, which can be quite funny when people fall in your traps : ))) Finally, the negatives: All of these have been fixed since the game is still in active development. New features and performance enhancements are still being added to what is already a polished and satisfying game. I've gotten the good ending of the game and still haven't uncovered every last secret, and I'm still playing and making maps. More people should play this game, it feels great to play and the puzzles tickle your brain. If you like death mazes, building death mazes and dying in death mazes, this is the game for you! 9.75/10 A must for anyone who likes grid-based puzzle/adventure games and fans of death mazes.
After getting all 100 Normal and the 3 secrets Levels, it's with the Level pit even more fun when you think you did finished the game.
This game is unplayable for me at this time. I will not comment the game because I didn't get far enough. It is similar to Chucks's Challenge from what I have seen so far. So you have to avoid enemies and traps and solve some puzzles. The problem is that the game runs like crap. It is a weird issue because the game runs fine for 5 to 10 minutes and than starts lagging, it looks like it is running in 20 FPS. Never had similar issues with similar smaller indie games. My PC is not that bad, that I am sure about. This is of course my experience with this game but others reported same issue so keep that in mind if you are thinking about buying this game.
I was a fan of the original Blackshift and was eagerly awaiting this revamp. It's retained all of the gameplay and puzzle excellence of the first game, but has a new 3D look and a very polished feel. I've gotten through the first 20 levels or so and have seen a lot of the familiar mechanics, but have also found plenty of new elements and fresh level designs. If you enjoyed the original game, don't hesitate to purchase this worthy followup. If you've never heard of it, but like puzzle/platformers, this is one of the best. It's got a great balance between puzzle-solving and execution. This is Independent game design at its best and is absolutely worth paying full price. Keep up the great work!
Great game but I wish there was a back button but later on the game does have save points which are useful. Atmospheric music too.
I played this fabulous puzzle game way back when it was still called Netshift in 2010, there was a downloadable Blackshift back then as well, but very different in design.. I loved it and we used to make levels with other players, and cooperate together in making levels, it was a challenge to make it very difficult and beat each other. On the site of the developer one can still have a tiny sneakpeak (although not playable) on all those Netshift levels, fun to see my name there too, although I was called Domna back then. Nevertheless we are now 15 years later and it is still an amazing puzzle game, it changed in design but oh well it is still challenging and fun. And one thing, don't give up too quick, play through the tutorial levels and proceed to make your own,
