shi got me cryn laughin n cryn cryn :sob:
There has been plenty of talk about this being a 'friendgem' rather than 'friendslop', and I'd happen to agree, this is arguably the best co-op game of the past few years. Over the past few years, I've generally grown tired of competitive play, monitoring my meaningless statistics, and being rage baited by Slavs in matches. I think this game arrived at a perfect time, I was looking for something to play with my friends where I wouldn't have to necessarily worry about pulling my own weight or having to one-up another person in my group. Big Walk provides players with a meaningful experience, yet all you do is walk and talk, and it is peak. The game forces you in establishing communication and bonding together. Puzzle-solving is mandatory, so working together is ultimately the best decision you'll make, and this forms comradery. It is immensely satisfying to amongst your friends cheering and jumping in a circle after finishing a puzzle. I think it is ultimately best to not talk about gameplay as it's truly important to experience the game blindly and with your friends. No stats, no sweatiness, no leader-boards. Just hanging out with friends, messing around, making each other laugh and enjoying the journey. I quite enjoyed our walk. What I will say though regarding the ending, is that the ending to this game is heartfelt, and makes the journey all that more meaningful. I will detail my experience of the ending in the spoiler bars below:
As we crossed the Great Wall of Big Walk and finished the puzzles inside the abyssal orb, we got to the end, one by one we were instructed by the game to exit the game through a gate corresponding to the colours that we picked for our characters. I ended up being last, I don't know if this was because I was the host or it was just luck. However, watching my friends exit and leave the proximity chat, and overlooking a sunset slowly dimming was a fantastically meaningful moment. I'm not particularly literate and I'm not an especially gifted writer, but I say without hyperbole, that this was probably one of my favourite moments in a game over the past decade.
Both of my friends invited me and bought me this game lol, and i had so much fun playing it. i was so happy to be able to play with them again (they're like siblings to me lol). Anyway, after 100% completing this game, i feel so empty and just want to replay it from the start with them. After all, i really enjoyed playing with them. This is such a precious memory and i'll never forget it. THANKS SORE AND FINNI!!!!
Really good fun of a puzzle game, just finished a trio playthrough and the final puzzles where such good fun 10/10 puzzle game
This game is a masterpiece sent it to my friend group and we had so many good moments from having deep conversations when you get lost with a friend to coming back to regroup and hearing the funny story of what happened when we were lost and just laughing and enjoying the moment this is a game I recommend playing with your friends. I cant wait to keep making more memories with this game 10/10
I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ loved every second i spent in Big Walk. To me, the game captures the feeling of sitting around a campfire or barbecue during a summer night with your friends as a kid, that sort of timeless space of just warmth and cozyness where nothing mattered but the present. I had this exact same feeling of unlocking a core memory back then as I had when i was sitting by the beach during sunset with my friends in Big Walk. I cannot put into words enough how much i loved the ending and how it genuinely made us tear up (and just thinking about it still does to me). I won't go into too much detail as in my opinion, the ending is something that needs to be experienced and not told, but the fact that all of us could still tell which character was who purely by behaviour alone speaks volumes about what a great space the devs created here for friendships to flourish. I probably sound dramatic as hell right now, but I genuinely haven't felt this level of happiness and overwhelming warmth from a game and the people I played with in a while and I cant thank House House enough. PLEASE GIVE ME THE OST ON VINYL I AM BEGGING. Thank you so much for giving us this experience House House. 10/10 would Big Walk with my 2 Big Idiots again. I love you both <3 Big Review, over and out!
