3/5 As many others have said, the game is lacking in depth and complexity of story, and is definitely better purchased when on sale, but that being said, it is very endearing! I loved the aspect which allowed you to bond with your dog, pet them, groom them, and even throw away their poops. The love interests are very diverse with unique personalities and charms to them. I wish there was more customization to the avatar creator because it does feel very lazy in my opinion to only give us two, and I do also wish we could custom-tailor our personality in the game a bit more because the corny, over the top sense of humor the PC has was kind of cringy at times. Again though, for what it is, it's a pretty good game with a shorter than average run time. I'll likely be replaying again to romance a few other singles I had my eye on after managing to date Anders!
Best Friend Forever is a short, cozy dating-sim-meets-dog-training story set in a relentlessly dog‑friendly town where everyone has opinions, secrets, and—occasionally—a chip on their shoulder. The premise is charming: you adopt a dog, settle into your new life, and spend 15 weeks juggling limited training sessions, social interactions, and dating scenarios while also trying to help your pup become class valedictorian. It’s a surprisingly strategic setup wrapped in a very soft, approachable package. The point‑and‑click gameplay leans into the cozy vibe, with small mini‑moments that keep you engaged—watching for your dog to dig, picking up poop, noticing when they cower or pull away. Each week ends with three interactions where you try to balance your dog’s mood, energy, hygiene, satiation, and hydration. It’s simple but satisfying, and it scratches that “pet management” itch without ever feeling stressful. The cast is a mix of lovable personalities and pricklier ones, which gives the dating side some texture. Some characters are instantly endearing; others take a little warming up. The mystery threaded through the story adds a light narrative pull, though the game often jumps forward in time in ways that make everything feel like it works out a little too neatly. My biggest critique is the length. The game is short—short enough that I didn’t manage to snag valedictorian on my first run, and short enough that I wished I had more time to deepen relationships and training choices. Still, the structure encourages replaying to explore different storylines, and I can see myself returning to try new routes. Overall, Best Friend Forever is sweet, cozy, and easy to enjoy, especially if you love dogs or low‑pressure dating sims. I’d recommend picking it up on sale, but it’s absolutely worth a playthrough if you’re in the mood for something gentle and dog‑centric.

good game but execution could be better
It's a dating sim with dogs. Mechanics around it is pretty simple, has some interesting storylines. It does decide things about your character or what your character can know for you around, which is usual but some seem a bit more,, 'now why can't I say that I know about this or yeah, me too' than others. The characters are honestly a bit more unique/distant from the typical tropes than I expected. The character can't really be customised, which is fiiiiine but... why have them then? It's cute, but a bit plain. Might be more suited for a mobile device than a computer, being a very low stakes, short story. Mostly focuses on you and your dog.
idk this just wasn't enjoyable when it came to the dating aspect of the game. the loop of training and taking care of ur dog scratched an itch in my brain that i liked, but everything else just sort of fell flat for me.
Love this game ! I only did Maribel's route so far but I'm determined to continue playing to romance other characters and level up my doggy <3 Would definitely recommend if you love dogs as much as you like dating sims !
I really appreciated this game. I don't think its worth £16 pounds, more like £8 - £12. Though i understand its a small developing company, with that said the game is incredibly cute and fun, I've had 2 different story lines and they were both very similar. I feel as if the games slightly rushed and sometimes buggy, ie, i was missing a character sometimes, I would appreciate it if we had more CC and DC because honestly, not much variety.. i hope this helps :3
Dogs and romance?? Yes please!
