Lobbies are surprisingly active, no matter what time you play, there will always be at least one full US server. Cheating isn’t an issue, server admins aren’t drunk with power, this game is very playable in 2026. The gun-play has aged very well, with only the hit detection feeling a bit outdated, but it’s not frustrating since the enemies bullets are just as likely to phase through you as well. Vehicles are on the strong side and not every map is fun to play on, but most are at least interesting to walk through due to the sheer amount of vertical variation. Progression being tied to individual weapons and kits is an amazing idea and I wish more BF games did it. Beyond punk-buster setup, CUAVs, zero audio directionality, and the most toxic in game chat in any online FPS, there’s no reason not to play BF4, it’s an amazing game, it’s an active game, and it’s still pretty casual.
