Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition

Batman: Arkham City is one of the best superhero games ever made. The open-world setting, incredible combat, stealth, and exploration all come together perfectly. The story is gripping, the villains are memorable. Even years later, the game still holds up incredibly well. Arkham City remains an absolute classic and a must-play for any Batman fan.

For a 2012 game this still holds up even graphically and combat better than most of the current games

In most Aspects a step up from Arkham Asylum. Bigger world, more stuff to do, the combat feels a lot smoother, and the game just feels way more polished overall. it's got some rather tedious feeling side missions and boss fights, but there's so much good here that it doesn't really matter and most of the stuff i would call annoying is optional anyway therefore don't expect for it to stunt your experience. I do think the game falls short in Atmosphere if you compare it to the Prior release, Arkham Asylum. Not to say it's bad, It's great, I had a lot of fun. Probably my favorite Arkham game out of the big three!

I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ HATE THIS GAME It is currently 2:47 AM and I have spent the last several hours playing Arkham City and I have come to the conclusion that Batman should simply retire. I don't know what the ♥♥♥♥ Rocksteady was cooking here. Everyone keeps telling me “Arkham City is one of the greatest superhero games ever made” and I genuinely want to know what they were smoking because I would like some. The combat is just HIT HIT COUNTER DODGE HIT HIT HIT and then suddenly there's a guy with a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ electric baton and Batman apparently forgets how his arms work. OH AND THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ RIDDLER TROPHIES. WHO ASKED FOR THIS. WHY ARE THERE SO MANY. I AM PLAYING AS BATMAN. I SHOULD BE BEATING THE ♥♥♥♥ OUT OF SUPERVILLAINS. WHY AM I DOING ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IKEA PUZZLES FOR A BALD MAN IN GREEN SPANDEX. “Hmm Batman, there's a hostage in danger.” Batman: “One second mate, there's a glowing green question mark on that building.” The gliding is also ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ stupid. I'll point Batman directly at a building and he'll decide that actually he would rather fly into a lamppost at 900 mph. And the grappling hook? Fantastic invention. Except when Batman decides to grapple onto literally anything EXCEPT the thing I'm aiming at. The story is also like: Joker: “I'm dying Batman 😈” Batman: “Oh no!” Random Side Mission #47: “Someone stole my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ watch.” BATMAN HAS MORE IMPORTANT THINGS TO DO. And don't even get me started on Catwoman. Every time the game switches to her I'm sitting there like NO. GIVE ME THE ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ BATMAN BACK. I've reached the point where I don't even know if I'm having fun anymore. I'm just playing out of spite. I will finish this game. Not because I enjoy it. Not because I want to. But because THIS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ GAME IS NOT GOING TO BEAT ME.
