Batman: Arkham City - Game of the Year Edition

In my opinion, the best Arkham game due to its storytelling, atmosphere, characters, and mystery. 11/10 would erase memory to play for the first time again!

Definitely one of the best superhero games, if not THE best. City is a sequel to Asylum but it's not necessarily to play the first game to understand what exactly is happening here. If you're only here for the main story it takes 10 hours to complete the game. If you want to get the best and enjoy some extra content as well, there's a lot to explore. The environment is incredible and sets the atmosphere perfectly. The broken-down ruins of everything? The enemies and their voicelines? The music? Incredible. It definitely feels like no-one other than worst of the worst live here, and once you hear the thugs' voicelines and conversations all around the place... There's no way you couldn't immerse yourself in the game. City's combat is definitely one of its best. All the gadgets and special moves gained by getting XP give multiple different options on how to fight, and the combo-gameplay is smooth as butter. It's not hard to learn the enemies patterns, although mastering them is a bit challenging (Looking at you, Joker's house of fun -challenge...) but very rewarding. All the different take-downs and moves you can make in a singular battle are very diverse. If I had one complaint it'd be about Riddler's collectibles and the massive amount of them. I love collectibles and finding them all, but even I at times felt somewhat reluctant to find 400 different trophies. Plus, the extra Riddler content (predator challenges and maps etc) are... a lot. I gave up trying to 100% after realizing I'd have to collect morbillion trophies for 4 different characters. Making perfection-required content where you have to master characters you don't even use in the story is certainly a choice. Nightwing, I love you and your gameplay, but your extreme predator challenges make me want to do bad things to myself. Other than that optional content, it's an incredible game with a great story and atmosphere. If you like Batman and dark&broody Gotham aesthetic, play this game ASAP.
