I love this game. It is exactly what it says on the tin. You are underwater. In a big ass submarine. Everything hates you and somehow there always seems to be more to deal with. This game is simple in some areas and complex in others, (*cough* wiring). The skills and job system is great, and all the roles have a unique purpose, and there's a vast array of weapons and equipment to use. There's a great deal of submarines to choose from ranging from the tiny little Barsuk to the absolutely gigantic Berilia, as well as a selection of different weapons you can choose for your submarine (the railgun is obviously the best because its a railgun). The progression in this game feels well paced, from biome to biome you'll encounter harder threats, missions, while simultaneously gaining access to more powerful options yourself. This is in my top 10 favourite games of all time no question, however it has some flaws. The medical system in the base game sucks, for the most part all you need to know is you can solve 90% of problems with bandages/plastiseal, opium/morphine and saline/blood bags. Husk infection is just a skill check for the medic as anyone without the correct skill level can fail to administer Calyx and end up wasting resources. The main problem is that 90% of the time as medical doctor you aren't needed and just kind of sit around doing nothing waiting for your 30 seconds of glory. Of course there are more potent drugs and stimulants but they aren't necessary. The game can also get extremely repetitive, you will see mostly the same stuff a lot of the time and know what to expect. For some that's fine, but I personally find it can drag on a little bit. Barotrauma is only really playable with friends, as the solo mode is uninteresting without people behind the characters. The Bot AI in this game is extremely powerful, being able to do most jobs perfectly (aside from medic dear god) regardless of skill level, but with the caveat of being extremely stupid and lacking any common sense (like 90% of the time they die from being crushed by pressure because they never pre-emptively put a diving suit on). With that being said, this game is a huge W. All hail Jove.
RESEÑA EN ESPAÑOL (THIS REVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ENGLISH) Buen juego, buenas mecánicas y, afortunadamente, no está abandonado. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ ENGLISH Great game, great mechanics, and thankfully, it’s not abandoned. But if only you knew how ABSOLUTELY HARD it is to find someone to play with... It feels like only 1 out of every 9 million people has even heard of this game. Trying to convince someone to play it with you—or even just buy it—is an absolute struggle. The community may be large, but it’s mostly concentrated in countries where nobody speaks your language, which makes it incredibly difficult to find people you can actually play with. There also isn't much of a community in many commonly spoken languages, and the game itself is barely known. Honestly, it's really hard to love this game. Yes, you can play solo, but this game is much better with company. If anyone wants someone to play with, add me. I speak both English and Spanish, but I don't use voice chat unless we know each other well enough.

It's great. Somewhat janky, and the netcode could be way better (especially when high latency is involved), but it's really great. Sadly playing solo is pretty much impossible. Optimally you'd have at minimum 3 players, tho 4 or more would be better. Sort of playable with just 2 however, but it's hard.
