For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 22 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,513 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.

Reviews
I won't get too deep into the story because breaking down the exact flaws would make this review far too long, but it's mostly good. The gameplay is a massive mixed bag. On one hand, it has fantastic quality-of-life features I wish every modern RPG copied like infinite inventory space, readily available crafting materials, and dynamic map routing. But on the other hand, it's dragged down by some archaic design choices that have no business being in a game post-2010. There are invisible walls absolutely everywhere, simple actions like squeezing through obstacles or opening chests trigger a tedious 5-second animation every single time, and the levels force a ton of backtracking on you. Despite those annoyances, the core loop is still worth it. If you're looking for a solid action RPG similar to The Witcher, I'd still highly recommend it.

This game is very beautiful. Top notch graphics. The story is very well written, the script and voice talent is superbly well done. The drawback for me is the pacing and placing of too many puzzles that feels like it's just there to make the game longer.
Oh man, the writing of this game is just impeccable. I'm convinced a lot more people would've liked the game, they just didn't hear about it yet, and I am unsure why that is so. It's such an underrated gem. I already posted on r/Banishers so I will post here too now that I have played out my ending. At the time of the review I have gone over the point of no return at about 70% of the cleared map and 70 hours playtime. I would've cleared more but I got impatient and I was missing dialogues since the main quest stalls at that point. I don’t know how I’ve missed this game on release but from the moment I’ve seen a trailer about two months back I KNEW this game is right up my alley. I play a lot of RPGs and always enjoy a good ghost story. Gosh, I loved every single bit of writing in this, every haunting case felt unique and Red and Antea have such a tight hold on my heart right now. Beautiful couple writing that is rare to see, not your perfect paladin and warriors but so imperfectly human. Red is such an interesting and multilayered character and that deep love him and Antea have for each other is just *chefs kiss* 🤌 Voice actors outdid themselves because emotion was felt and 60 hrs (now 70) just flew by for me. I really really hope we get a sequel (or a prequel!), I’ll be keeping my fingers crossed because I think writers can do so much more on the base they built with this game. I’d watch a Netflix show, I’d watch a movie about this too. Artwork was also so beautiful, I stopped many a time just to enjoy the environment while exploring around. Of course the game isn’t without flaw. But those flaws were not as important to me with storytelling like this. Would I have liked that I didn’t get lost too many times ending up in dead ends that were sometimes frustrating? Sure, but I accept that I’m also directionally challenged more than most people (advice: hotkeying a map so you can pull it up in need helps). There could’ve been a few more different enemies as well maybe. But this isn’t AAA game we’re talking about even though it’s easy to mistake it for one. Banishers had soul and heart all over it, and I want to give my humble thanks to the whole team that worked on this gem. Hope we can see more from you all and thank you for this experience. 9.5/10, I shall take my leave now.
Phenomenal narrative game that overstays its welcome with its open world, then reels you back in at the end. The story, the lead characters, the themes, the difficult choices, the beginning and the end are all world class. However, there is too much filler in-between the good parts. It took me around 40 hours to complete with all Haunting Cases completed and 59% map completion and I wish it had taken me 20. Combat to be satisfying and engaging with my only wish for more enemy variety and for combat to be restricted to only meaningful moments. The world is beautiful and well-designed but with too few fast travel points, slow animations and quests that encourage backtracking, it does itself a disservice. I had no performance issues while playing. Overall it would be a 9/10 game on the narrative, brought down to 7/10 by the open world aspect. Please give it a try! Despite my critique, I have no regrets and want to see developers who want to try something slightly different succeed.
In short: "As good as Expedition 33". It's a massive lift for a studio like Don't Nod, yet once again they pulled it off. As other "double-A" games, Banishers is not perfect. The combat is repetitive, the backtracking is ever present, some animations are janky... Yet there is so much heart, so much soul in this game. I loved the stories of different characters you meet, the portrayal of early America that no US-based studio would dare to put forward. Lots of LGBTQ+ undertones, too - lovely. The think that really hit the mark though were the animations of Red and Antea - their interactions, the way they stand up from the fireplace (a number of random options), the way they move - as in a dance - together. Also, Antea's pull/flying animation was awesome. I could never get tired of looking at them. I also very much enjoyed the maps. So many nooks and crannies, so many spots to hunt for treasure - with something surprising hidden almost everywhere. My only regret is that I got the "bad ending".
I promised to resurrect Antea, but tailed to blame/kill enough living haunting characters - resulting in a time loop end.
Fair is fair though. As much as this is one of my favorite games (ever), it is not one I would want to replay. I will watch other endings on YouTube. 56 hours is enough :)
