This game is so much fun, one of my favorite typing games! It's got some great humor and some really cool and relaxing music! Fun to explore and uncover all the maps! Really enjoyed going for the 100% achievements too! Had all but 3 on a single play-through! Would definitely recommend this game! It's so awesome! A small tip: the difficulty is set based on how many WPM you type on the tower guard outside and you can't change it after that. My slow butt typed 48 WPM so I got the easiest setting (I think). Hardest triggers at 90+ WPM with Medium being somewhere in between. Other than that, use your contractions and learn to dodge! Have fun! [spoiler] YOU CAN PET THE DOGGO!!! awesome game about typing, cool storyline too!! i would've 100'd this if it weren't for the 90 wpm achievement :( anyways 9/10
I'm not a great typer, I found this very difficult.
The typing prompts and pixel art are charming but navigating the grid-based labyrinths gets a little exhausting. I sorta wish there were more opportunities to save your progress too. I’m not certain if I’ll play much more considering that I got stuck and lost a chunk of progress while brainstorming, but as an on-sale grab that scratched my typing itch, it was fun.
This game is pretty nice. The length of the main quest is good - longer adventure would become tiresome, but in the end I've enjoyed it. (now playing 2nd episode, included in game)
Me gustan los juegos de escribir y este es uno, sugerido aunque un poco corto por su valor.
Backspace Bouken combines the experience of a classic dungeon crawler with mechanics of a casual typing tutor game. It does so with some charming dialogue and enemies, and some mostly player friendly level and puzzle design. I like this game a lot, despite its basic flaws. Pros: + Simple, clean, fun story + Old school graphics and sound + Reasonably difficult levels and puzzles + The game length and overall challenge level are solid Cons: - An early encounter sets your game's difficulty based on how fast you type. I got cucked hard by the game, because I type fast as hell. Seriously, like 180+ wpm fast. This makes the game super sweaty. - The introduction of the "dodge" mechanic is easy to miss. (Heh.) If you don't learn it early, you're going to find the last 2-3 boss battles to be very difficult. Exceptionally so if you got the max level of difficulty because you typed too fast at the start. Also related to the dodge mechanic: Backspace Bouken is a typing game. Why introduce a more or less necessary mechanic that requires you to regularly remove a hand from your keyboard's home row, and that you then reset your fingers in the heat of the moment? It took away from the fluidity of the typing experience in my opinion. Score: B+ Easy buy on sale, if you like typing games and/or dungeon crawlers.
Really engaging typing game. As others have mentioned, I wish there was more saving, but otherwise great. It's a nice take on the genre, with some clever humor along the way. Doesn't reinvent the wheel, but there are some nice and different touches to the in game typing challenges.
