great game
Fajny klimat
Wat een geweldig spel. Duurt wel ff voordat je alles onder de knie hebt maar daarna een abosulte aanrader!! Ben je een Avatra fan dan is dit helemaal een pre.
If you love the Avatar movies you will LOVE this game. This game is basically Far Cry but in Pandora. I personally enjoyed it more in third person mode but you do have the option of doing third person or first person. The map is huge and so many things to explore. I have really really enjoyed this game and would say it's worth a shot to anyone who enjoys open world games.
TLDR; Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora genuinely transports you there. Visually stunning across the board, technically excellent, and a decent if predictable action game. Not a huge Avatar fan myself, but this delivers. Solid 8.5/10. Graphics; Truly stunning in places, particularly the forest environments. Ray tracing, HDR, and high-resolution textures combine beautifully; you can see individual leaves, light reflecting through the canopy, shadows shifting underneath the trees. It brings Pandora's jungle to life in a way that feels genuinely immersive. The more open landscapes, the upper plains, are equally impressive; they've managed to make something visually simple, rolling open fields, feel just as detailed and considered as the denser forest areas. NPCs, especially the Na'vi, are extremely well realised too, with detail down to skin reflections and eye occlusion that really sells the sense of realism. Humans and human-focused action sequences are the weak point graphically; guns look fairly square and bland, and human characters look almost like they've wandered in from a different, less detailed game. It's clear the focus was on environment and the Na'vi experience, flying through Pandora, living in the forest, and honestly that's the right call even if it leaves some areas feeling flat by comparison. Technical: Excellent throughout. With DLSS and ray tracing on and everything maxed out, I was hitting a solid 90fps. Became a little CPU-bound in areas with high NPC density, but never anything dramatic, and the game was rock solid, no crashes at any point. Story; A fairly standard Avatar story, resisting the humans, protecting the land, ensuring your presence is felt. It's essentially a well-worn narrative lifted straight from the films and repeated here without much new added, which is fine as far as it goes. The Na'vi NPCs, unfortunately, are just as grating as they can be in the movies, and I'd hoped playing as one might make them feel more relatable, but they didn't land any better for me. The human NPCs lean into the traditional "pain in the arse" antagonist role and are fairly dumb as a result. It's a functional but ultimately unremarkable storyline. Gameplay; Guns and weaponry are well implemented, with solid upgrade paths and mods across different weapon types. I mostly gravitated toward long-range bow shots and grenade spam. Enemy AI is fairly consistent and not especially challenging for most of the game; the only real difficulty spike comes near the end, purely from enemy numbers rather than smarter tactics, and even that's easily overcome. Music is A standout. The score does a great job of reinforcing the sense of place, the forest, the streams, the hunts, flying through the skies, alongside strong sound design during combat, especially aerial fights and explosions. DLC: From the Ashes, the main DLC I played (included free), is where the real value is added. It brings genuinely welcome boss-style encounters mixing QTEs, multi-phase fights, and hand-to-hand combat across varied environments, a refreshing change of pace from the base game's combat loop. Overall ; Not a big fan of the Avatar franchise generally, but this game delivers on visuals and technical execution, with decent gameplay and a modest story. Credit where it's due, if you're even a slight fan of Avatar, this is well worth it, especially with From the Ashes included. Currently discounted too, so a good time to pick it up. 8.5/10.
