Astro Tripper

This is a 2D top down low poly bullet hell/shmup with a loose sci-fi theme where you blast the baddies and get power ups and a high score. While the concept is old and busted, there's still some potential for the genre.. just not from this train wreck. The low poly graphics were retro when the game was released 9 years ago and they look even worse today. This game will be unplayable for many as the developer chose to map gaming peripherals (HOTAS, Pedals, Racing Wheels etc) as if they are console peasant childrens toy gamepads. This makes the player move constantly up and to the left, making the game completely unplayable. The developer didn't include sufficient control customisability to disable this, which they might have done if they tested the game properly on PC. The developers want $5 USD for a video game they know looks bad, is extremely dated, and can't be played because they didn't bother testing the controls. Impossible to recommend.

This game is a hidden gem! I highly recommend it. Analogue control for direction and speed, great arena style level design with the ability to flip directions and two different weapons that can be powered up substantially. Put on some dark drum 'n base and go at it (I like to listen to some "Source Direct" while playing this, it just fits so well!)
