One of the best gaming experiences of my life, in my over 30 years of gaming. Looking at singular features, it's not reinventing the VR wheel - but it uses every element to great effect, creating a constant flow state, and giving an experience you won't get anywhere else. There's just enough story to make the world interesting, without ever getting into your way. Exploration, movement, and combat all feel fantastic, polished to an insane degree. It's crazy how many VR games get something as simple as menus wrong, but this game absolutely nails them. The setting itself is fairly unusal, but creative in a good way. The only negative i can think of is that there are is good/bad points morality system in place that was unecessary, and the first time you see it, it's somewhat obtuse, so your first playthrough might be suboptimal and lock you out of one of the unlockable melee weapons. It doesn't matter too much in the grand scheme of things though. There are few different enemy types, but they are very fun to fight, all while avoiding the eternal curse of having zombies in your VR games. Using melee, ranged and any combination in between feels extremely balanced, and you have great freedom in how you set up your loadout. Many games have tried copying Alyx, and usually simplified the presentation - but not so here! This game greatly builds upon that foundation. While simple enough to not get in the way of the action game, it feels very satisyfing and quick to use. Keep an eye on this developer in the future, there's some real talent here!
