Animaly Bar: NO HUMANITY!

UPDATED REVIEW It seems like this developer really cares about their game and their community! Before I edited my review (as you might be able to see) I mentioned what seemed to be AI icons for achievements, which I have since learned are temporary. There are definitely a lot of updates I'd be excited to see in the future, but the game is still a lot of fun, and in my opinion worth your time! PROS -I love the concept. It's playing off of indie horror trends, which is completely fine and often necessary for new developers, but it has a unique spin on things that I think is whimsical and interesting! -I love the morals depicted within the game, calling attention to thing like deforestation, trophy hunting, animal testing, and other horrible things humanity has done. -Running the bar, making the drinks and restocking are all simple but well done. The progression of recipes that pop up in your recipe book is nice, so there's not too much information at once. -The art style is unique and eye catching. -The system for identifying humans is simple but effective as well, I enjoy games like this one that add nuance to finding inconsistencies where one mistake isn't enough to convince you they are humans in disguise. CONS -The pacing is a little overwhelming, I believe there are almost as many jumpscares as there are customers to serve. I believe good pacing in a horror game requires developing a false sense of security, especially in job simulator games, where things gradually turn from spooky coincidences to horrifying scenes. -I believe the game could use some optimization. I've been running Assassin's Creed on high quality fine, but for some reason even with the graphics on low this game is harsh on my system. -Definitely a minor nitpick but the dialogue could use some more depth, and the voices/animal sounds for your character could use a little bit of variation. -Also very minor, longer gameplay would likely be very well received, especially if there was an infinite mode for players to get more immersed in. This game is still a new release so it has some quirks, but it seems like the developer is very active in their community on multiple platforms which bodes well for future developments. I'm looking forward to getting the last few achievements I'm missing and keeping an eye out for future updates! :)
