Ancestors Legacy is a squad-based real time strategy with a strong focus on tactics. Inspired by medieval European history, it brings to life four different nations and their conflicts, usually solved by war.

Reviews
Negative review mainly because of the forum/community managers. I've got banned because I've said that the people so frequently called 'nazis' now, during WW II were simply called germans. That's a serious censorship and terrible distortion of the real history. You shouldn't buy games from the people underrating horrible deeds of germans. I'm from Poland and my family was deeply affected by the germans during the WW II and I simply cannot stand pathetic devs trying to mitigate germans' crimes. Not sure if this is studio's actual policy or if just some forum/community manager was acting on his own (in that case, he should be fired immadiately). Nevertheless, stay clear of the games from this lying studio.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Ancestors Legacy —
"EXCELLENT - ATTACK." -Boleslav, Campaign #8, the resident scenery-chewer It's not a good game in my book (read: too much repetition and grinding), though it is slightly closer to Recommended, so that is what it is. Not terrible, though not good either. Real talk - playing the game requires constant focus and is super draining, so playing it is not exactly fun for the most parts. CAVEAT EMPTOR Tl;dr - it is barely good enough for a try mostly due to the campaign and scenario design content. The downsides include atrocious unit AI that often picks outright wrong path and the reliance on spawning more troops out of nowhere and relying on superior numbers in the scenario design. It is quite well optimized and runs well on a potato. If you are wondering if the DLC is worth it: HELL NO. The DLC campaigns tend to be all about dealing with massive amounts of enemy troops that is all kinds of awful. Having your sparse 10 units distributed to where they are needed does not always work and the traversing the map takes a long time in case you predicted the enemy spawning location wrong. The worst part of the single player content is the Saladin campaign. The later levels are prone to crashing and there are tons of glitches such as the critical objective building not taking damage from catapults as intended, forcing you to restart the scenario. Also they expect you you to use the Grenadier unit that can mow down the whole enemy army in about 30 seconds and is impossible to beat if it throws the grenades from a bush (read: bushed troops cannot be targeted unless you are in the same bush yourself). That last campaign in general feels rushed and undertested to the max. They even gave Saladin the same "EXCELLENT" voice lines as Boleslav in the previous campaign. I am fed up with the battle system (read: Total War lite with the stiffness and a lot of glitches such as the unit turning canceling the enemy troop's charge effect on it). There is some rear-attack and flanking in the game, though the implementation is a bit suspect. It is best explained by: "rock paper scissors and archers beat everything." In practice, if you are facing a lot of archers, your only way to beat them is to have your archers beat their archers, preferably by baiting the enemy ones into attacking your super tanky hero while your archers target theirs. The fog of war system is extremely annoying. It means that your units cannot see two feet in front of them unless you tell them to light a torch... that they will immediately drop if they feel like attacking the enemy without asking you. Most of the game is irritating babysitting of your units and their trashy useless-tier AI and braindead pathfinding ability. At the same time the enemy units separately and routinely do constant movement changes as reactions to your movement commands. This means that if the enemy is anywhere close to yours and you need to do range maintenance, you will be spending like five minutes in the slow-down mode just to kill one unit and trying to not get caught by the enemy. It is either that or your dumb troops getting caught and one-sidedly slain, setting you back with their loss and making the game take even longer to beat to the point it is faster to load a save and try again. The resource accumulation is quite slow in this game and it gets ridiculously slow during some of the Saladin missions. You will be spending some missions without adequate food, cutting your troops attack power by about a half. I could go on for quite a while how frustrating the game is to play, how some of the achievements are tied to the DLC campaigns (read: don't go for the DLC or achievements) and how universe-breaking the Saracen Grenadier unit is. This game is far from polished and the main gameplay never stops feeling rough. It also takes a long time to get anything done in it. It seems Saladin DLC is the only one out there, though the Konrad campaign (about Templar Knights' pagan purges in Europe) have similar issues and it is marked with the same exclamation point in the campaign menu. The usual gameplay experience is better done in other games. All this game has going for it are the campaign storylines. Keep in mind the DLC storylines are quite weak and not worth the money in general. I got this game from a Fanatical Mystery Bundle.
Отличная, интересная, эпичная, зрелищная стратегия
I like this game a lot. You get about what you'd expect from a medieval RTS, both the good and the bad. There's a lot of story content to go through, especially if you get the DLC. Most missions are fairly straight forward and not particularly challenging. That said, there were a few major battles that cranked things up a notch, usually towards the end of each campaign. These battles helped tremendously to payoff some of the less stimulating content leading up to them. Voice-acting could be better and you do have to go through the faction campaigns in a certain order, but I didn't mind that as much as others have. In terms of the actual mechanics, it's pretty simple. There isn't a lot of unit variety so you'll pick things up pretty fast. Each faction has a couple different types of infantry, ranged, or cavalry units that perform largely the same in principle. However, the factions themselves have various strengths and weaknesses that alter the performance of those units. Furthermore, each faction has a different hero unit with unique abilities that help tie things together and can outright win a skirmish if used well. Timing and resource management will be very important. Infantry can take awhile to reach the fight and better units with upgraded armor aren't cheap. The AI will easily outproduce you if you aren't careful, so be prepared to fend off a lot of attacks on your base and resource nodes if you prefer the slow methodical approach. My favorite aspect of the game is the level of immersion as a battle progresses. Bodies and gore remain on the field, so you quite literally see the cost laid out in front of you. This can cause a bit of a performance hit in matches that drag on as you might have hundreds of bodies on the field by the end of it. Otherwise, I haven't had many issues with bugs or performance. Perhaps the biggest issue you will come across is that unit pathing can be a bit frustrating at times. This problem is exacerbated on certain maps that have winding roads or verticality (think curved path up a mountain). You'll notice that troops might go around their asses to get to their elbows, causing them to be late to the party or miss it altogether. This can lead to some micromanaging at times, but really only becomes frustrating on certain maps in my experience. I would pay particular attention to siege units because they're incredibly slow, so it sucks to lose them because they took a dangerous route. Overall, I think the game is well worth it, especially considering the complete edition often goes on sale for less than $10. I highly recommend the DLC because the Saracens are really fun to play with (not so much against lol). The Saracen Grenadiers are very strong, but not without a counter as their range is rather limited and they're pretty squishy (they also love friendly fire). Plus the assassin units are really cool, albeit difficult to use at times. There's far more than $5.10 of content here (Winter Sale price), so you can't really go wrong if you're interested. I've really enjoyed my time going through the various campaigns, not to mention the battles I've had with and against my friends have been a blast. My final piece of advice is do not play a match where everyone on your team picks Germany as they start off incredibly slow and are expensive to get going. Trust me, you do not want to see how desperate that can get for you.
“Ancestors Legacy” is a game that is really suitable not only for fans of historical strategy, but also for those who are not afraid to face high levels of difficulty and challenges. If you're looking for something tough and demanding, this is a great choice!
Better than most games of this genre.
