For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. World-Building and Writing A heartfelt fantasy visual novel with meaningful choices, memorable characters, and an emotional true ending route. It masterfully combines a gorgeous soundtrack, expressive artwork, and rich fantasy setting. It is a beautifully written visual novel that proves the most powerful magic is not found in spells, but in forgiveness, hope, and the choices characters make when faced with impossible circumstances. Beneath its beautiful world-building lies a deeply personal story about class division, forgiveness, sacrifice, and the consequences of choices. The writing does an excellent job balancing political conflict with intimate character moments, making Elise, Frederic, and Franz feel like genuine people whose dreams and flaws shape the fate of Overture. Hopeful Endings The Neutral Ending, Frederic-Elise Ending, Franz-Aretha Ending, and Franz-Elise Ending function as early endings. While they conclude the story before the larger conflict reaches its natural resolution, they provide a surprisingly happy and peaceful future for the main cast. These routes suggest that stepping away from the escalating crisis can avoid tragedy and preserve what matters most. They also leave hopeful possibilities open. Frederic may still have a chance to earn the love and affection of Elise someday, and Franz has opportunities to build a future free from the suffering that could have defined the latter half of his life. Thematic Endings The Libertad Ending is dark and thought-provoking, offering closure through compromise. It demonstrates the devastating consequences of revenge and ideological extremism. It is a sobering reminder that vengeance rarely ends where people expect it to, and that every act of retaliation only perpetuates the cycle of hatred. The True Ending, on the other hand, stands as the emotional centerpiece of the entire story. It delivers the most complete resolution while carrying the greatest emotional weight. Frederic and Franz each receive endings that feel simultaneously like redemption and punishment as they find meaning in their sacrifices, yet they are forced to pay an enormous personal price. The heartbreaking aspect of this definitive conclusion is the realization that the tragedy stems from a conflict that could have been avoided altogether.

Honestly the game was pretty ok, but it had it's issues. First off, the true storyline was long, pretty good and had a pretty fleshed out ending. This was in contrast with most of the other endings that didn't take a long time to reach and felt pretty underwhelming and short. It portrays an interesting story and gives off an interesting message with quite a lot to think about. The game is a lot of reading though, there are not that many choices, but they can impact the game more significantly than you expect them to. The characters were written pretty well though some things could have been done different to add a few more routes. The soundtrack of the game was mostly classical music which I'm not the biggest fan of, but it fits well with the game and was pretty fun to listen to. All in all the game was enjoyable to play for once, but I don't think it has a lot of replay value nor would it be worth it to buy full price. I bought it on sale and I'd recommend to buy it on sale to, if the game seems interesting to you.
I think the current price is not worth it for a visual novel so I'd recommend ya'll buy it on sale. I've had this game for a couple months now and wanted to play something relaxing on my leisure time so I re-installed it and so far it's very intriguing. There's a whole lotta interesting points in it such as casting spells using keywords like "faith" or "compassion", portraying social inequality between the different ranks, and different POVs from the main characters (each from a different rank) of the story that draw you in. There is no voice-over or elaborate animations that last for more than a couple seconds so if you don't mind that, you're in for a good read.
Great plot comes with great discount. Bought it via steam sale and glad to play.
Really nice little VN. The depth of the magic system is awesome, and the writing is really sharp. The plot isn't the most original but I really liked a lot of the developments, especially in the true end. The in-depth look at what magic-powered binary systems would look like was more than worth the cost of admission, honestly.
I wish I had played this sooner. The opening scene starts with a banger soundtrack and a fascinating magic system, which both lead to an immersion I don't really think the marketing captures. One small downpoint is that the controls are pretty mouse focused - you can't navigate the screen with keyboard/controller buttons. I definitely think this game is worth playing! I should note that the story comes with some seriously mature and adult themes, which as one of the characters (E.) should show to you, has the potential to affect young people. Use discretion when playing. Edit 2: Quite short, but the music leaves an impact. Overall, still worth it! Time to go back for the other paths using fastforward.
Магия задумана как сила отрицающая логику. Загадочная, непонятная, необъяснимая. Иногда чувственная. Увлекающая воображение, как что-то нереальное. В "An Octave Higher" много магии.
First of all, I would say: Endure the first scene that feels from a shonen manga. Passing that, the vn is pretty interesting, through infuriating at times. Though, a thing I disliked was how uneven were the endings, with 4 of them being really shallow. Through, there it´s a lot of ideology in the game, I think that it can still be interesting even if you don´t share it, as long as you are not prone to tamtrums.
Dear lord this was trash. Characters that don't act like people, a melodramatic plot, and a character loses their arms in an almost comedic fashion. I laughed when I know I should not have.
