One of the best FPS ever. Boomer shooter at it's finest. At first I was sad it was not more like Hexen or Heretic, but handles more like Quake... But man, that game just grips you and the feeling of accomplishment after tough fight... that is just amazing.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 0.56/day in the week to Aug 4 → 1.57/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 23 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 14 places towards #1, and the 2,515 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

psychedelic, sacred-geometry-laced fever dream of a shooter, mad artistically rich. While I went in with very high expectations, I can confidently say it mostly delivered, even if it didn’t fully outdo them. The game’s mystical, sci-fi-fantasy aesthetic feels completely unique, like Quake meets Heretic filtered through an interdimensional art museum. The ray-traced visuals are a serious flex. The art direction is clearly the real star here: glowing runes, golden ratios, and architectural designs that feel handcrafted. Every level is drenched in vibe and meaning, it’s like wandering through a sacred alien temple built by an artist obsessed with geometry. The gameplay is satisfying, with punchy weapons and slick movement, though I found the variety and balance a bit lacking over time. Some weapons become near-useless in later stages, and alt-fires didn’t feel essential. Combat is still fun, but it doesn’t evolve much, and the levels, while imaginative, can start to feel long and repetitive. There's not much plot or progression outside of level-clearing, so I wouldn’t say it's a highly replayable experience. That said, Amid Evil is a standout in the boomer shooter revival for how much passion clearly went into its design. The creativity, atmosphere, and visual cohesion are masterclass. As a work of artistic expression, it’s easily one of the most beautiful shooters out there
It's dynamic as hell and quite crazy, just be careful not to have epileptic seizures or explosive diarrhea 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Amid evil is more of a subtly tuned mythical exploration FPS rather than a traditional boomer-shooter. The game's main appeal is to attract you into this ancient world full of dangers and mystery. Ancient Gods, scribbles of text on the wall, powerful foes and a mission to save the Gateway of the Ancients. It's mythical and inspired. There is soft story-telling through small sentences on the walls of each level which give you a taste of the lore. It's not a lot of story-telling, but it's enough to give even more atmosphere in a game which already has a lot it. It's a simple and straightforward experience. You start in the hub area where you get a very small introduction to what is going on and you must fight the ancient EVILS and PURGE the land. You are the CHAMPION, the Axe-wielding hero of this story. You don't say a word throught the entire campaign, but you don't need to. Your aresnal does the talking; you just save the Ancient Gods from the Evils of the VOID. The enemies are very interesting and varied. Level design gets more complex the more you go on. You never get lost in this game. There are no mazes. There's just a complex level which pushes you toward the end without making it a headache to figure out where you're supposed to be going. The level design is probably the best part about this game. It still has the old school key card system of DOOM era games, but without making you feel like you'll get lost every 2 minutes. You always know where to go, and the scenerey really delivers. The rest of the game ie : weapons, sound design, music, enemies all fit in to create a really fantastic mythos which is a lot of fun to explore. The secrets are just ammo pick ups, so don't feel the need to waste too much time looking for them. The DLC is great additional lore and probably the best game-play of AMID EVIL. -- When picking the difficulty, choose EVIL (max diff). It's surprisingly balanced. Remeber you can quick save and quick load whenever you want, you that to your advantage. __ Wouldn't change a thing about this experience, excellent value. 10/10 Including DLC. It's not DUSK, it's not CS:GO levels of quick movement. It has you wielding a magical STAFF, not a sniper rifle. Expect slower gameplay than those games. The movement is also the tightest of any game I've played.
