Originally I bounced off this one partly because I expected something more akin to Heretic or Hexen which to be fair is partly the fault of a lot of the marketing I think. But coming back to it years later without those expectations holding me down and approaching it on its own terms I really liked it. To better explain the deal with this game It's Quake style level design and general game feel with Heretic styled weapons (But with a Limit break you can do for a more powerful alt fire for limited time that you unlock by collecting the dropped souls of enemies) and a more expanded Hexen Mana system (Hexen had 2 Mana types, this has 4). And finally actual boss fights to cap off every chapter end and generally very mobile and aggressive enemies. (Think of Quake 2 or Unreal Gold style enemy AI with roll dodges and ♥♥♥♥ like that. They can jump up to and down to platforms to come get you.) I also wanted to come back to this because I now have a decent RTX compatable card and this is the way better benchmark for it than Quake 2 RTX. A lot of it just comes down to the exquisite use of color and lighting and the fact that the later stuff especially is intentionally very trippy with the final chapter making extensive use of non-euclidean geometry. The vistas and skyboxes too are just beautiful and this I would say the best looking New Blood game and its not even close. Some really sublime stuff in this game that makes you feel full of awe at how beautiful games can be. That kind of feeling that makes you stop and stare at a particular vista for a bit instead of rushing ahead.

at start game was lame and boring, after beating the first 3 bosses in the 3 chapters, and getting the DLC the games very good, just push urself a bit and u will enjoy endgame

Это более цветастый и фэнтезийный Quake. Но при этом она самобытна и хороша. Визуал безумно красивый. Музыка Эндрю Халшалта не такая агрессивная, она больше созерцательная и придающая атмосферу. Я могу рекомендовать вам эту игру. 8 топоров из черного лабиринта из 10.
