It feels like this series was evolving from Voidspire to Horizon's gate, but then regressed with this game. It almost seems pre-Voidspire. The world expanded into Horizon's Gate (with it's towns, dungeons, different mechanics, exploration and classes) and then suddenly became claustrophobic (you can't walk around town, classes are reduced etc.). It may have been trying to fulfil a different space than Horizon's Gate but if it is, Voidspire is already in that space and fulfilling it much better. It is also a shame they changed the music (which gets tedious quite quickly almost like constant Final Fantasy battle music). I read the reviews and thought I'd give this game the benefit of the doubt and try it but it just isn't engaging.
Good god it's janky. This is an exploration tactics rpg set in the carcass of a fallen godbeast, which is neat, but it has one of the unfriendliest UIs I've seen in the genre. You really have to fumble your way into figuring it out, and even then there's no protections against softlocking yourself. You control with mouse + keyboard, but almost nothing is prompted. Your characters don't have conventional action menus and turn end popups, and there's sort of a startling vacancy of informational feedback from the game at all times. Want to know if that new enemy you've spotted will oneshot your squad? Walk into it and find out. Want to know what that blue football does? Walk into it and kick it across the room into a doorway, where it won't stop you from going in, but the game will freeze due to an eventing issue if you try to go out. The overall concept is fun, and the mix of roguelike survival and tactics rpg is neat, but go into this expecting a cursed game and you'll be much better prepared for how you need to play it. Edit: Early game balancing is also, uh, not really in the game's design philosophy. You need a pretty high tolerance for frustration to scratch the surface, since there's a lot of What Is This -> I Guess I'll Approach -> And Now I Am Dead.

A short dungeon crawler with a bit of procedural generation. Doesn't have the exploration or story or Voidspire Tactics, but it's also cheaper, so I think the price is right if you just want more of the same gameplay with some nice quality of life improvements.
Alvora Tactics is the second Rad Codex game, featuring turn based combat and an FFTactics-inspired class system, Based around exploring a single, procedural dungeon--the remains of a giant city-eating worm--Alvora doesn't have much to differentiate it from the other games by this developer, but it's still fun and addictive in its own right. The main added features here are new classes and the augmenting system. You also get a base camp with party-wide upgrades, including the ability to field six members at once. It's a nice balance between exploring Alvora and coming back to sell loot and buy upgrades, all of which feel impactful. However this version of the class system feels pretty weak. Classes in this game have seven active abilities instead of the usual five, but most of them just don't seem worth using. There's a lot of status effects and movement based abilities, and other situational stuff, but relatively few direct power increases. To be fair this seems to be the idea behind the system--most upgrades consist of new tools, range increases, or duration boosts, while power comes from your gear and stats. But this makes the few direct power increases feel like the only things worth unlocking. I finished Alvora in about 15 hours, and it felt too short. My team was decently leveled but only had mid-tier gear at best. It feels like a whole chunk of late game content is just missing. The dungeon has 5 biomes and other than one alternate 3rd floor that sometimes pops up, every floor has the same enemies and same power level every visit. Not only that, but the fourth floor is mostly puzzles with hardly any fights, and the last zone is short and mostly empty. After your first clear it seems like a sixth zone is going to be added, but alas this is not the case. Alvora was a lot of fun, but Horizon's Gate does pretty much everything better. Only recommended if you can't get enough of Rad Codex games and are curious to see how they've evolved.
Great tactical turn based RPG with some roguelite elements. Class system is like Final Fantasy Tactics. Highly recommend.
This game is kind of mediocre, mostly just that it doesn't control very well and it's sort of low quality. I think a lot of people sort of give this a pass because it's a solo dev and he tried - but I kind of regret that I bought this because now it's in my library and I probably won't ever play it. If you actually want to buy this, I would suggest to actually try it and refund if you don't like it instead of letting it sit the whole time.
This is a solo Dev that really knows how to make a great game. So much heart.
if what u want is a dungeon-crawler party-based RPG that cuts down on excess time-filler and just shuttles you between the field and strategizing on party composition off-field, this is the right package
Just beat the game. Another great SRPG in this dev's list of great SRPG's. I will say that the experience was a tad too basic, and I can't say the UI is to my liking, but overall, it's a great game. Solid character building, fantastic combat, good soundtrack.
