About

Build, Gather and Fight in a Desperate Last Stand Against an Onslaught of Never Ending Evil!
The darkness is an entity of evil. Some say it is the manifestation of human fear and nightmares, others say it is a wandering mass of damned souls haunting us. The origin of the darkness itself is unknown, but one thing for certain is that we can keep it at bay through the power of light and fire.
The complete, full release of Age of Darkness: Final Stand is available now and includes Co-operative Multiplayer, Campaign, and Survival modes.

Brace yourself against huge tidal waves of Nightmares. Leveraging an internally developed technology called ‘SwarmTech’ allows the game to render over 70,000 enemy units on the screen at one time. These enemy legions claw their way up through seething fissures in the earth to reinforce ‘The Veil’.

Light up a rich, complex, procedurally generated map to claim territory back from ‘The Veil’. A dynamic living death fog that conceals enemies and drains life from your troops. Holding the line against this terror is not for the faint of heart.

Borrowing from the the roguelite genre, Malices are random afflictions placed on the player during every Death Night, unraveling the best made plans. Conversely, if a Death Night is survived, you may decide between three randomly selected Blessings, enriching the experience and giving your army a much needed edge.

Lead the charge against the horrors of the night with powerful and unique Heroes. Using special abilities gained from leveling up, these Heroes can be key to turning the tide of a desperate battle. But beware, the Nightmares have Elite roaming champions of their own that drop precious resources when killed, posing an extreme and ever-present threat to your expansion.

Co-Op Multiplayer - Team up with a friend in co-op multiplayer to survive the onslaught, defend humanity from the forces beyond the Veil, and reclaim the light together
Epic Campaign - Award winning single-player campaign full of epic battles and dire threats
Survival Mode - Put your endurance and skills to the test in the endlessly replayable Survival Mode
Award-Winning SwarmTech™ Technology – Witness the internally developed ‘SwarmTech’ technology, allowing the game to render over 70,000 enemy AI units on the screen at one time.
Unique Heroes & Factions – Choose Heroes reigning from three distinct Factions - The Order, Rebellion & Volatists - each with their own playstyles, abilities, bonuses and army units that offer a unique gameplay experience.
Dynamic Day & Night Cycle – Fight to reclaim territory by day and survive against the relentless horrors that come with every night.
Living Death Fog – Encounter The Veil, a living death fog that conceals terrors and adds a new layer of danger to your survival, which must be kept at bay through the power of the Light.
Malices, Blessings & Hardships – Embrace roguelite mechanics that make every run unpredictable and unique.
Elite Nightmares – Hunt down wandering powerful enemies for Dark Essence, each requiring different tactics and strategies to defeat.
Horror and Embolden Status Effects - Embolden your army to aid them in battle, but ensure they are protected from the brutal effects of being Horrified.

Gutes Spiel.
Age of Darkness has great potential but it's really not polished. Especially the co-op experience greatly suffers from bugs. It's a shame that the devs abondened it. I'd recommend to not buy this game or any other game from the developer/publisher PlaySide.

Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 1.14/day in the week to Jul 30 → 1.43/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Interessantes Grimdark Mittelalter-Strategiespiel mit Horden von Albträumen und ein klassisches Wirtschaftssystem. Wer `They are Billions` mag und mochte sollte dies hier ausprobieren.
I would say just play they are billions instead
So, I WOULD have no issue with the devs calling this a complete game and not doing any more updates... the problem is that there are still several major shortcomings with pathfinding and unit formations. I personally don't have any performance issues, I even played multiplayer twice with a friend and we had zero problems, so I can't speak to the performance. But yeah, literally all they need to do is three things: - Add one simple rule to pathfinding: unexplored area = unpathable area unless you click into it. - Add one simple function to unit commands: "move in formation" - formations as they are now are kinda useless because as soon as you issue a move or attack command your units break formation (EDIT: This is actually in the game, its just clunky to use. You have to use the attack move command and then right-click-drag the formation outline where you want them to go, and they will move in formation. There are still some shortcomings like small aggro radius - even when patrolling I still see night time attack slip through even though they are in vision of the patrolling unit(s). The actual formation command doesn't have much customization to it either, only dragging distance to reduce formation width and scroll to adjust unit spacing, and you have to drag REALLY far for some reason. Also, units won't take formation evenly, lightbearers for example will all go to the left side, leaving the right side without support. It's just kinda weird and annoying to deal with, gets in the way of gameplay.) - It looks like they need to fix desync issues in multiplayer but I haven't experienced that I know this sounds like some ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, but I am a software dev, and I promise you the first two things are easy fixes unless you write bad code. It's too bad the devs seem to think these small tasks aren't worth doing. Seems like they just don't care about their customers once they get their money.
dead game. the dev already abandoned this game
It's a great concept that's essentially a Warcraft 3 Custom Games-era kind of thing, as a standalone game. In theory it's very fun with friends (all my hours are coop in AoD). But unfortunately it's been abandoned in a very buggy state. Cannot recommend this anymore. Multiplayer especially has infuriating problems at times with disconnects and losing your progress. I'd avoid unless you're desperate for that aforementioned WC3 Custom Game feel
I bought this for a multiplayer campaign.
ABANDONED BY DEVS
Great idea, lack of depth. It is the same thing over and over it could have items for heroes and other mechanics intergrated into it but for the past year the devs didn't do anything.
